Pink Tutu Milan #1682: A Day of Dreams in Milan!

Hello, my darlings! It’s Emma from Derbyshire, and guess what? I’m in Milan! Squeals with delight This week's Pink Tutu adventure is all about embracing the romance, the elegance, and the utter fabulousness of Italy. My last Milan blog post was all about La Scala and today I’m back with a story about fashion, dancing, and that magical feeling only Italy can provide!

It’s Wednesday 2027-09-01, the sun is shining, and my heart is soaring. Just the way it should be, because after a successful ballet performance in the beautiful Italian countryside last weekend, I’m ready to explore Milan’s unique artistic soul.

For those of you just joining us on this pink tutu journey, my goal in life is simple: I want to bring the joy of the pink tutu to everyone. It’s a symbol of whimsy, beauty, and confidence - just like Milan itself! Today's mission? To share that passion with all of you and to bring a little bit of Milan's magic back to Derbyshire.

I know I say this a lot, but… the streets here are so inspirational! The architectural details are breathtaking - a mix of vintage charm and modern chic. It’s impossible to walk past these exquisite buildings and not feel like a princess from a storybook! This, coupled with Milan's vibrant atmosphere, has inspired my outfit for the day. I'm sporting a lovely pink tulle tutu (naturally) paired with a vintage ivory silk top, and some perfectly distressed vintage Levi's jeans. A pair of sparkling silver ballet pumps complete the look, because even when I’m not dancing, I need a little bit of that pointe-shoe feel!

Now, onto the adventures of the day…

A Fashionable Stroll and A Tasty Treat

First stop: The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Milan's very own cathedral of luxury! The glass roof, ornate mosaic floors, and chic shops are like a symphony of architectural brilliance. This was a favourite destination in my last Milan trip - it’s the perfect place to spot new trends and imagine your future ballerina costumes.

Just looking at all those luxurious shops almost makes you want to burst into a little pirouette! Oh, you've never seen anything quite so dazzling as the window displays - think intricate floral arrangements in a sea of pink and emerald green. Even a window shopping Queen like myself gets swept away by such beauty.

But the true joy of the Galleria isn't just about window shopping, it's also about the experience. The air is buzzing with excitement and you can feel the creative energy pulsating in the air. We walked hand-in-hand (okay, maybe it was a solo stroll as I wasn’t exactly trying to attract a lot of attention, but you know, I love the thought of being with a sweetheart while I enjoy the shopping delights) around the Galleria, marveling at the exquisite displays, and imagining our own fairy tale scenarios.

Afterwards, we took a break at a charming little cafe tucked away on one of Milan's bustling side streets. I just had to sample the "Panna cotta," the sweetest and smoothest dessert that's as light as a ballerina’s steps. My goodness! Even a delicate cream-based dessert tastes amazing in this city, I promise!

The Rhythm of the Rails: A Train Trip

Our next stop: A journey on the local train! Now, you know I have a special place in my heart for those romantic, vintage trains. This trip on the Italian railways wasn’t just about reaching our destination, it was about enjoying the experience.

As the train chugged along, I had the pleasure of watching the scenery change from sleek urban architecture to rolling hills of countryside. The beauty of it all simply took my breath away! My imagination ran wild, I could see myself twirling in those very hills, in my beloved pink tutu, my smile echoing the beauty of the day.

To me, there’s something magical about train journeys - it feels like a little secret shared between you and the world. It’s a time to reflect, dream, and maybe even jot down a few blog ideas - who knows what adventures the pink tutu may take me to next!

A Step Into the World of Ballet: Teatro Dal Verme

The final stop of our day: Teatro Dal Verme. This magnificent theatre isn’t quite as grand as La Scala but it has a captivating charm of its own, filled with beautiful art and rich history. You’re welcomed into a warm, inviting space with intricate carvings and velvety seating. As I walked through the foyer, I saw glimpses of the artistic soul of Milan.

A glimpse into the Theatre - It has this incredible, elegant atmosphere. Even the stage, unlit, with its shimmering red velvet curtain, holds a promise of enchantment. The feeling of history and artistic passion was palpable.

Teatro Dal Verme offers a vast array of events, from ballets and operas to music concerts and lectures. But you can’t ignore its heritage - for me, that’s the real magic! As I sat in one of the beautifully restored auditoriums, I let the air transport me to the world of classical ballet. I was so entranced! I envisioned myself as one of the graceful ballerinas, performing a whimsical ballet.

This journey into Milan was like a beautifully choreographed dance of sights, sounds, and feelings. I can't wait for my next journey!

### A Night to Remember: Dancing in the Heart of Milan

What's a trip to Milan without a sprinkle of magic and, of course, ballet?

Tonight, I am making my way to the Teatro della Scala, yes that same beautiful theatre. I have always dreamed of performing in La Scala and I am so excited about the chance to perform here in a special fundraising event - a truly magical opportunity to be a part of such a storied location!

Tonight's show will be a captivating selection of classic ballet pieces. It’s a ballet that reflects on the strength of female dancers, on the magic of dreams, and, well, what's better than an evening that encapsulates the spirit of this entire trip, bringing together my passion for ballet, for Italy, for dreams!

I can’t wait to dance for a beautiful audience here in Milan! I'll be back soon, with photos and more stories of the magic I’ve found on my Pink Tutu Milan trip. Until next time… wear pink, dance with joy, and always let your inner ballerina shine!

Lots of love,

Emma xxx

What is happening on 2027-09-01?

2027-09-01 falls on a Wednesday - it's a perfect day for enjoying a lovely leisurely afternoon at a cafe and doing a bit of shopping in Milan. This particular day is quite special, though! It’s International Day of Peace! A celebration of all things peaceful, I hope it will bring even more smiles to our travels today.

A bit of fun for your own dance days, what do you say to some of my favorite dance links from around the web:

  • [Here's a fabulous ballerina costume store!] (Just be careful, there is a LOT to look at)
  • [Have you always dreamt of owning your own tutu?] (Don’t worry if you can’t make it today! It’s a link to all things tutu - a fab guide!)
  • Find an inspiring ballerina! (Or find a nearby dance studio to explore in your own city or town. )

I'm sending out all the pink tutu vibes for a magical day filled with inspiration!
