Pink Tutu Milan: Post 1703 - 26th January 2028 - A Ballet-Filled Dream in Milan! ???

Hello lovelies! ? It's your favourite tutu-wearing, pink-loving blogger, Emma, back with you from the heart of Milan, Italy! This week's post is a burst of excitement, because it's all about ballet, fashion, and the beautiful city I'm lucky to be exploring! ?

Milan is a city that seems to pulsate with life, from the bustling fashion houses to the cobbled streets lined with chic cafes and boutiques. There's a sense of history in every corner, yet it's also so wonderfully modern and forward-thinking. It's the perfect setting for a pink tutu-clad ballerina to enjoy a whirl of adventures, wouldn't you agree? ?

Trams, Trains & Tutu Tales! ?

Since my arrival, I've been wandering around Milan with an inexhaustible sense of curiosity, often travelling by tram or train - a delightful way to get a feel for the city's rhythm. I can't tell you how many stares I get from people - they must wonder if I've somehow stepped out of a fairytale! ? But you know what? I love turning heads! It's about making ballet accessible and fun - and what could be more fun than a splash of pink tulle in a crowded carriage? ?

My adventures often take me to the historic heart of the city, "il centro storico." This charming area is a haven for history buffs and fashionistas alike, with its elegant arcades, historic churches and iconic buildings like the Duomo, which is simply breathtaking. I spent ages marvelling at its gothic spires, intricately carved details, and beautiful marble facade. ?️

I've been particularly enjoying the grandness of the Teatro alla Scala, which I discovered is just a stone's throw from my current apartment! This stunning opera house boasts a history that stretches back to the 18th century and is renowned for its exceptional acoustics and theatrical beauty. The sheer magnificence of it leaves me speechless every time! ?

Speaking of music, I simply must share my amazing experience of last night! ? I attended a captivating performance of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake at the Teatro alla Scala. This iconic ballet masterpiece is always a feast for the senses, and in this setting, with its grandeur and intricate details, it truly was an unforgettable spectacle. Watching the elegant ballerinas and impressive choreography had me completely swept away into the enchanting world of the swans! ?

You can't mention Milan and ballet without a shoutout to the world-famous La Scala Theatre Academy. I took a fascinating tour, peering into the classrooms where aspiring dancers are shaping their futures. I got a sense of the passion, dedication and commitment that's poured into every class and performance. ? It was truly inspiring to see so much raw talent!

I am just dying to get to La Scala's Dance School, Balletto di Milano, too. They have some exceptional dancers, with many young aspiring dancers taking classes. I plan to pop by and perhaps even grab a class myself. You can never have too much ballet, can you? ?

Milan - The Fashionista's Playground ?️

Of course, a trip to Milan would not be complete without a deep dive into the world of fashion. ?️ As I've said before, this city is practically bursting with elegance and style, with designers showcasing their collections on every street corner! From vintage boutiques with hidden treasures to world-renowned luxury fashion houses, Milan offers something for every taste and budget.

I spent hours browsing the colourful displays of Italian designer shops, from the luxurious Armani and Gucci to the stylish independent boutiques filled with exciting new finds. I was delighted to stumble across a fantastic vintage store tucked away on a side street. After some careful searching (it was truly like an enchanted treasure hunt!) I walked out with a breathtakingly elegant vintage pink silk dress - what's a girl to do, when faced with such a divine ensemble? ?

The Art of the Aperitivo! ?

Speaking of Milan’s endless charms, there’s the simple but truly delightful ritual of the “aperitivo” which is basically an Italian way of life - it's a pre-dinner ritual, with socialising and enjoyment being at the core of it. From around 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., people flock to bars and restaurants to unwind and enjoy a glass of wine, a negroni (a classic Italian cocktail) or an Aperol Spritz - the perfect Italian sunshine drink. I adore the feeling of that warm, sun-kissed atmosphere, with good food and great conversation. It truly reminds me why I love living and exploring in different cultures. ??

One evening, I joined a group of ballet dancers I'd met through a dance workshop at a local "osteria," which are typical traditional Italian restaurants. We shared stories and laughed together, enjoying the warmth of the traditional wood-fired ovens, the aroma of delicious cheeses, and the perfect combination of good company and Italian charm!

It's this kind of cultural immersion that truly enriches my experiences - it’s the beauty of stepping outside your comfort zone, letting go, and letting the moment lead you. ?

Ballet On the Streets & Beyond! ?

I also love the “strada del balletto”, the "Ballet street," where many studios hold classes every night. The students and teachers are amazing! It's fantastic to be in a city where so many talented dancers congregate, creating an almost palpable energy, fueled by their shared passion. You’ll often find me lurking at the edges, soaking up the atmosphere and getting lost in the movement. ?

And you know me - always in search of ballet, everywhere I go! This past weekend, I caught a fabulous ballet performance at a smaller local theatre. The intimacy of the venue, with its red velvet seats, charming decor, and enthusiastic audience, made for a truly magical experience! ?

I just adore ballet performances that embrace their unique storytelling through ballet’s dramatic potential. This weekend’s show was no exception, bringing me right back to that childhood sense of wonder that ballet instilled in me - that dreamlike feeling of magical possibilities and expressive beauty. It’s moments like this that truly ignite my soul and inspire me to continue spreading my message of pink tutu love. ?

I can't wait for you to see my new dress collection inspired by my latest trips! My designs are always inspired by the colours, architecture and spirit of each city. ?

Did you know? That Milan is also known as the fashion capital of the world. It’s one of the 'big four', along with Paris, London and New York! That’s how much Milan cares about its style, and the world cares about Milan’s style. ?

I'll keep you posted with my latest Milan musings. Until next week, keep twirling! ✨

Much love,

Emma ?
