Pink Tutu Milan - Post #1709: La Dolce Vita, Milan Style!

Buongiorno, darlings! It's Emma here, fresh from the fashion capital of the world, Milano! Oh my, what a week it's been. It’s Wednesday, which means it's Pink Tutu Milan day! And if you haven’t already guessed, darling, Milan has really lived up to all its promises, even surpassing my wildest pink-tutu-tastic dreams.

Firstly, let's get straight into this…Milan and I, we are kindred spirits. We both adore elegance, beauty, and oh-so-stylish living. From the moment I arrived, with my trusty pink tulle companion of course, I knew I’d found a place where a tutu-loving girl like me could truly thrive.

It all started on Sunday afternoon, when I landed in this beautiful, historic city. You know the feeling – stepping out of a plane, your heart filled with excitement and a faint whiff of croissants and espresso wafting through the air. Well, my darlings, Milan certainly delivers! It's like stepping onto the stage of a ballet, except with actual croissants. It’s the perfect place to twirl! I know some of you love travelling, and that you love a pink tutu, and so you really should try coming here! I love to help you make these things happen and my blog aims to make that happen!

After a long flight from the UK, (and it always takes such an age from Derby!) I just couldn't resist hopping onto the nearest tram and enjoying the stunning Milanese scenery. Now, my loves, you know I'm all about the journey. That includes travelling in style. Tram rides with a pink tutu? Why not, darling! It’s what we are all about. Don't be shy, my lovelies! Express yourself and wear the tutu! Who knows, maybe I’ll meet you in Milan!

The Glam of Teatro alla Scala

But, you know me, dear ones. I don't just travel to shop and take cute photos in my tutu (although, honestly, let's be real, shopping and photos are definitely top priorities). Milan, my darlings, is famous for its breathtaking ballet, and oh, let me tell you, Teatro alla Scala didn't disappoint.

On Monday, I made my way to this legendary theatre, ready for a night of dazzling grace and elegance. A true cultural immersion, wouldn't you agree, darlings? You'd be amazed at the amount of gorgeous tutus they have there. The grandeur of the setting, the elegant clientele… It’s not hard to see why this city has earned the title of "World Capital of Ballet".

I must say, the performance I witnessed on Monday night had me twirling in my seat with delight. (It took me quite a while to untangle myself afterwards.) The ballerinas, those divine beings, were absolute masterpieces of movement and beauty, their costumes shimmering and glowing under the spotlights. Let’s be honest – the tutus were fabulous.

A Tutu-licious Treat for Your Eyes

But it wasn't just about the ballet itself, darlings. This is Milan, and therefore style reigns supreme, my dears! I took in every detail, from the glittering jewellery adorning the ladies to the impeccable tailoring on the gentlemen. Milan has this way of making even the simplest of looks absolutely radiate, with its subtle elegance and timeless sophistication. You see my darling, Milan just exudes class. The people are fashion conscious and I find that there are no boundaries for self-expression in a fun and stylish way. I am sure there will be people who will disagree. But the reality is, we have just as much of a right to make a statement wearing our tutus, in exactly the same way they are expressing their own unique look!

And then there was the food, darling. Oh, the food. From freshly baked croissants and indulgent tiramisu to creamy risotto and fragrant gnocchi, Milan treated my senses to an endless culinary symphony. It was just like a sweet ballet on the palate. But who needs a dance at the ballet, when we have a meal for the gods! Let’s be real, when you get back to the hotel room, that’s the only thing on your mind. That tiramisu and croissant combination…I just love how easy it is to look fab, eat amazing, and still feel like you’ve just danced for hours! Milan, you make me a very happy girl!

Shopping for Pink Tutu Inspiration

This trip would not be complete without the grand shopping trip. As much as I adore exploring Milan's art and history, you know I can’t help but feel like shopping is a beautiful dance in itself. I simply adore exploring its incredible shops. They are overflowing with fashion finds from Italy and around the globe. They just had to feature in this blog, my darling.

With so many fabulous stores, finding the perfect tutu ensemble can sometimes be daunting, but there are places that can definitely help you to reach those goals, darling. I don’t want you thinking it’s too hard, or expensive! Just embrace those shopping challenges. As they say…Embrace the challenge or make it.

Don’t just stand there…Dance around the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

And where else in Milan to embark on a shopping spree but the breathtaking Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Oh my goodness, my darlings! This is a place where architecture, beauty and a touch of sparkle come together in absolute perfection. Even I, in all my tutu-adorned glory, couldn't help but gasp. This structure is a symphony in glass and steel and with every store a treat for your senses, a shopping adventure can feel just like the ballet. I think that is something we can all relate to, darling, finding beauty and inspiration in everything you do, or that we want to do. So that is why I go there! Because I want my blog to bring out the inner ballerinas in all of us.

My Tutu Tips for a Shopping Extravaganza

Darling, you might be wondering, how can you enjoy shopping at Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II when it's so very busy? That's easy, just embrace the throngs, and take a lesson from me, darlings: The secret lies in finding joy in the crowd and in treating your shopping like a performance.

Top tips:

  1. Prepare your dance moves: Wear your comfy ballet shoes, because let’s be real, the most fabulous dancing happens outside the theatre, especially in shopping havens. I like to choose a tutu and a fab, loose dress that can accommodate all my treasures, (after all, we don't want to wrinkle those dresses before we've even had a chance to strut!) That way, when I find my ultimate score, it's a total, carefree joy! But don't just stick to one look, I am going to encourage you to do what makes you feel good, go on a shopping journey! Make a day of it!
  2. Theatrical entry: Find a graceful spot, perhaps on the top level of the Galleria. The view is worth it. Breathe, relax, and embrace the beautiful surroundings. You don’t have to be at the heart of it all. There’s a reason why all of these people want to be here!
  3. Find your inspiration: Shop from store to store, looking for what sparks a little dance of joy in your heart. There's something magical about experiencing fashion on this scale. It's just like the way you discover that perfect tutu – It speaks to you, you love it and you have to take it home!
  4. The power of pink: If you really need a little tutu inspiration, be brave and pop into a shop in a bright pink dress. That pink colour will make the Galleria really come alive, darling. You can't deny the power of the most vibrant hue. Embrace your inner goddess, darlings! If that's not bold enough for you, slip on a tutu!
  5. The grand finale: After all the shopping, what better way to conclude the grand tour of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, than to take the most dramatic twirl and make a triumphant exit. Just be careful, with all that tulle flying about.

Discovering a Ballet Star

One of my favourite things about Milan, my darling, is that the city is teeming with incredible dance talent. One way to find all sorts of cool dancers, my dear, is to visit the local theatres. And even just people dancing in the parks on a Sunday afternoon. It really does get you going. And trust me, they won’t mind a twirl or two!

You'll never know, there might just be a ballet superstar lurking around that next corner. It’s like a big treasure hunt – which is another one of my favourite things! There's this electrifying energy all over the city, the anticipation of new beginnings and blossoming talent, that is always very exciting. It keeps us motivated, doesn't it? To see, to explore and discover our inner diva, that makes us want to twirl and go!

And that’s my tip for the week – explore everything! See new places, watch people in parks, pop in to ballet performances and who knows, your ballet star could be born.

Embrace Your Pink Tutu Soul!

That is my tip of the week, my darlings – find those pink tutus and dance with abandon! I love a touch of pink to my wardrobe. It gives a boost and it reminds us of beautiful things – those bright pink flowerbeds and pink flamingos! And then I think of a dance with my favourite dancer! The dance with my future partner.

Embrace that confidence, darling, embrace that sense of excitement and know you are the queen. Be your own pink tutu.

Until next time, darlings, remember to twirl like there's no tomorrow, and always follow your heart…even if it means wearing pink!

Lots of love, Emma
