It’s a Wednesday, which means sunshine (hopefully!), a morning ballet class, and a delicious gelato adventure to be had. I simply adore Wednesday’s here in Milano - there’s an undeniable energy in the air, the streets are buzzing, and it’s a wonderful day for a spot of shopping or a visit to the Opera House.
As you all know, I'm on a mission to share the joy of ballet with the world, one pink tutu at a time! Today's adventures are dedicated to showing you that even in the most glamorous of cities, a pink tutu never goes amiss. Ready to twirl along?
Breakfast and a Ballet Boost
My Wednesday mornings usually start with a delightful breakfast of croissants and strong, Italian coffee. Today's special treat was a delicious "cornetto al pistacchio" - a flaky pastry filled with creamy pistachio paste - the perfect energy boost before my ballet class. Speaking of ballet, this week’s class was at the lovely "Scuola di Danza Milano" nestled right in the heart of the city. Imagine: me, twirling in a shimmering pink tutu, surrounded by other passionate dancers, all feeling the rhythm of the music. Pure bliss!
Fashion Fiesta on Corso Buenos Aires
After class, it’s time to fuel my inner fashionista! I’ve got a serious soft spot for Corso Buenos Aires - it's Milan's largest shopping street and it’s an absolute paradise for finding those fabulous fashion pieces that scream "Pink Tutu Chic"! From sleek, stylish boutiques to vintage treasures waiting to be discovered, it’s an afternoon spent truly soaking up the vibrant Milanese energy. I even found the perfect blush-pink handbag, complete with delicate embroidery. I just had to get it!
The Splendor of Teatro alla Scala
The evening saw me at the legendary Teatro alla Scala, the grand opera house that holds a special place in every Milanese heart (and my own). The ornate architecture, the plush velvet seating, the air of anticipation… It’s simply magical! Tonight’s performance was "Carmen", a dramatic tale of love and betrayal, perfectly brought to life by passionate singers and dancers. The costumes were stunning, the music was sublime, and the performance held me spellbound from start to finish.
The Tram to Piazza Duomo
I always enjoy a good tram ride! The windows of the tram offered stunning views of the city, twinkling under the glow of streetlamps. My journey ended in Piazza Duomo, the beating heart of Milan. Standing before the majestic Duomo, gazing up at its soaring spires, I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of wonder.
Dinner Under the Tuscan Stars
Tonight, I'm indulging in a classic Milanese dinner – a delicious plate of spaghetti with fresh pesto and a side of "gnocchi al gorgonzola" – cheese-filled dumplings swimming in creamy gorgonzola sauce! A true delight for my taste buds!
