This week, I've traded my Derbyshire fields for the cobbled streets and grand architecture of this Italian fashion haven. The sun is shining, the air is alive with the sound of laughter and chatter, and a delicious aroma of freshly brewed coffee fills the air. Honestly, it's like a scene from a fairytale, and I'm absolutely loving it!
Speaking of fairytales, did you know that Milan is home to Teatro alla Scala, one of the most prestigious opera houses in the world? It’s right on the list of things I’m planning to see! I even snagged tickets to see La Bohème on Friday - it’s going to be spectacular! ?
The Journey
Getting to Milan was a dream in itself! I hopped on the train in Derbyshire, settled into my seat (with a nice cup of tea, of course), and watched the scenery change outside my window. The rolling green hills gave way to sprawling fields of sunflowers, then to quaint villages nestled among vineyards.
My arrival in Milan was like stepping into a chic, stylish film! I grabbed a taxi to my adorable little apartment right in the heart of the city. It's full of charm with a touch of Parisian elegance – I even have a little balcony overlooking a picturesque courtyard! I immediately felt at home.
Tram Adventures
So far, I've been exploring Milan's charming tram system – it’s like a vintage fashion show on wheels! It’s so easy to navigate, and you get to see so much of the city in a beautiful, leisurely way. Plus, the local trams are adorned with some really fabulous vintage Italian design and advertising.
Of course, my outfits have been completely "on point" for my tram journeys! Think flowy floral dresses with my favourite pink tutu underneath, oversized straw hats, and of course, a dash of pink lipstick. After all, pink tutus and trams are a winning combination, don't you think? ?
Shopping Spree in Paradise
I've already been indulging in a little retail therapy in this shopping paradise. Milan is a feast for the senses! I’ve been on the hunt for some perfect new ballet shoes, as well as a few outfits to wear to the theatre. Imagine the stunning floral prints, luxurious fabrics, and perfectly crafted ballet flats – I’m utterly in love!
Food & Flair
Oh, the food! From steaming bowls of pasta to delicate pastries and perfectly brewed cappuccinos, Milan's food scene has been absolutely incredible. I’ve had the most amazing creamy mushroom risotto, a heavenly tiramisu (the best I've ever tasted), and countless bowls of fresh pasta with delectable sauces. Everything I’ve tried has been a culinary masterpiece, and I’m still drooling just thinking about it!
A Ballerina's Delight
Naturally, ballet is high on my Milan agenda! There's such a vibrant ballet scene here - you can see amazing performances and classes absolutely everywhere. I’ve found a few charming little ballet studios that look like they’re straight out of a Parisian romance. I'm so excited to check them out! I plan to do some ballet sightseeing as well – the magnificent Teatro alla Scala is right at the top of my list, and I hear they have the most incredible backstage tours.
A Place for Every Pink Tutu
Let’s talk about the most important part of my trip… pink tutus! ?
Honestly, there’s just something about this beautiful city that makes you want to spin, twirl, and twirl again! You just know that wearing a pink tutu is practically compulsory, wouldn’t you agree? It’s the perfect accessory for soaking in the atmosphere, exploring charming cobblestone streets, and dancing under the Italian sun.
Milan really has something magical about it, it makes you feel alive! And what’s a better way to celebrate that feeling than with a pink tutu?

There were some seriously heartwarming moments. One lovely family even stopped me on the street to ask for a photo because they all had on tutus!
