Tutu and Ballet News

Dearest darlings,

It’s a balmy Wednesday in September – I can feel the air turning crisp as we head into the heart of autumn. And what’s more delightful than crisp air, darling, than a whisper of autumn leaves in a gentle breeze, I ask you?

Of course, we know what else is delightful - **ballet**, darling.

So, I thought it fitting, as September 16th dawns upon us like a blushing ballerina on the first day of her training, to delve into the magical world of tutus and tiaras!

It's hard not to love those pretty little frocks of a certain age!

So let's get down to business (and down to some serious tutu-talk), shall we?

**Why We Love A Tutu, Actually, and Why We Need One In Our Lives, Right This Second.**

Forget diamond tiaras and pearl necklaces. It's time for us to embrace our inner little prima ballerina! Now, there’s an air of absolute fairy tale-like magic that a tutu manages to exude, wouldn’t you say? Every time a ballerina twirls on the stage in that billowing white or pink (pink’s definitely better!) tutu – my dear, my heart skips a beat. I honestly think I could happily spend all day twirling about in a pink, full-length tutu, perhaps enjoying a picnic with my dearest girls. Who wouldn’t?

That twirling, that beautiful ethereal glide across the stage, and a whisper of tutus just skimming the ground. It’s something special, isn’t it?

My dears, the simple act of swirling a skirt and kicking a leg really can give you a fabulous endorphin boost. Now you may be saying ā€œOh, I don’t want to dance like some prima ballerina – my balance is appalling!ā€. And I’d simply reply ā€œOf course, you don’t have to.ā€

So, what are the different types of tutus? And who can wear which?

Don’t be silly! Of course, we can all wear them! Even I’d get down on the floor in a tutu, though you might have to pry me off with a spatula (one of those handy-dandy silicone ones of course!). Now let’s get to the fun stuff:

The Tutu Styles

  • **The Romantic Tutu** (And a perfect reason to head straight to the theatre) It’s delicate and dreamy and light as air, so they flow out gracefully when the dancer spins – and those little dancers they whirl and pirouette - I love it!
  • **The Classical Tutu** A bit more rigid, a more precise shape than its Romantic friend and darling, these give you structure and support to leap and jump - and the little ballerina just knows how to use them to her advantage (who wouldn’t)!
  • **The (Super-Dooper- Fabulous) The Powder Puff Tutu**. This darling of the ball can really just about take your breath away – a fluffy circle of beauty that the little ones are oh so graceful in - it is just magnificent. But if you don't know how to take on a tutu with gusto, perhaps this isn’t one for the first time around (my little ballerina!).

**Oh! I Do Love Ballet.**

Let’s be honest, ballet, is the very best form of dance – you just can't argue with those little ballerinas – it is elegant and dramatic. And yes, darling, sometimes you just have to stop everything you’re doing and throw your legs in the air - it just makes life so much more beautiful! It’s graceful, elegant, precise and expressive, so perfect – oh the delight! - we could talk about the sheer perfection of ballet for hours, but this article isn’t a book (yet!) - it’s a very exciting (and very special ) news update and one that calls for dancing.

So the next time you need to have fun, be fabulous, embrace a moment of grace and have your very own ā€œprima ballerinaā€ moment, grab that little white tutu, darling (or pink!), and let those legs soar, my dear! - you'll be so glad you did.

That’s your news update for 16th September, darlings, have a wonderful, twirling-tutu-filled Wednesday, you’re so pretty in pink! – Oh, or white.
