Pink Tutu Blog NYC: Monday 2025-05-19 - She Danced in New York City!

#1563

Hello my darlings! It’s Monday, which means it’s time for another exciting adventure in the Big Apple, brought to you by yours truly, your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina blogger! It's hard to believe I'm already on my 1563rd blog post, it feels like only yesterday I was starting out, a little Derbyshire girl with big dreams and a pink tutu. I just love sharing my adventures with you all!

This week, New York City has been whispering magic to me. The air feels electric, charged with creativity and dreams. Maybe it's the buzzing energy of the city, maybe it's the anticipation of upcoming performances, maybe it's just me, feeling all sparkly and inspired in my pink tutu.

I arrived on Friday, after a magical journey, the train journey was pretty boring, and thankfully didn’t smell as bad as usual! Luckily, I found myself a great new bakery with delicious pastries - the perfect pick-me-up after a long journey! Now I'm settled in a charming little hotel with the most fantastic views. It's in the perfect spot for all my adventures - just a short walk away from Central Park, Lincoln Center, and Broadway, and of course, all the amazing shops on Fifth Avenue. Oh, you've got to check out that gorgeous shop I discovered called "The Pink Boutique", it had every shade of pink you could imagine.

The highlight of my weekend was a phenomenal ballet performance at the New York City Ballet. I always get so swept away by the beauty and the artistry - the dancers are incredible, the music is divine, the whole experience is like being transported to another world. Seeing such passionate talent made me want to get back into the studio myself!

The day after the show, I spent some time at Lincoln Center, basking in the glorious sunshine while I sipped my coffee. There was something wonderful about the quiet atmosphere - just me, the gentle rustling of leaves in the trees, and the magical sounds of a lone street musician. I even wrote a poem for you lovely lot - just wait for the next post, you’ll have to wait a week to see that! It was such a contrast to the city's usual hustle and bustle. It felt like a perfect moment to soak in the atmosphere, gather inspiration for my next dance piece.

Speaking of dancing, I took a ballet class on Saturday, hosted by a charming gentleman named Bernard who claimed he was a 'former dancer', we shall not discuss the size of his belly but oh my goodness! He had the most delightful pink leotard and I couldn’t resist striking up a conversation with him, you know, as fellow ballet devotees do!

Bernard's class was so fun and inspiring. There was something so empowering about moving through the steps alongside all these amazing dancers. It truly felt like I was at the heart of the city's vibrant artistic pulse. You should have seen how proud I was of my pirouettes - I’m nearly there with my final one in that tricky move. He kept calling me his 'Little Ballerina' in that French accent! I nearly died. Maybe next time, he will buy me that new leotard, pink obviously, it is in my favourite shades and is only available at one exclusive shop in New York, "The Pink Swan"! But he needs to buy me an extra-large this time! I shall see...

I'm off to wander around New York City, seeking inspiration for my blog post for next week. And, of course, I'll be searching for more amazing tutus, pink ones, naturally. Maybe this time, I'll even find one with glitter! Remember to subscribe to my channel! See you next week my loves!

Lots of love and happy dancing!

Fashion Tip: Don’t forget the bright lipstick with pink blush - It makes any look "très chic"!

Food Diary:

  • Friday: I just had the most heavenly macarons from a little shop called "Sweet Treats". Pink, of course! I don't even need to tell you.
  • Saturday: Lunch was delicious Italian. I know, it was so hard, I've always been more into Chinese or French cuisine but the pasta was made with a beautiful pink sauce and the place had the cutest pink decorations, It's actually just round the corner from my hotel, on West 43rd Street - definitely go check it out. They had the cutest pink candles too!

Culture Corner:

I must tell you all about the Broadway play I saw! It was absolutely magical! So dramatic! I loved the use of light and shadow, the way the story unfolded so smoothly, I was even moved to tears by the end of the show - I will tell you about it next week, that’s another poem for you to look forward to! This was, in my humble opinion, a must-see.

I know what you're thinking, "What will you be posting about next week, Emma?", and trust me you will be pleased, as will all your children and the neighbourhood’s furry friends as I shall write all about my experience of a performance with a dance troupe full of dogs, all performing amazing feats, I have a wonderful picture of myself with one wearing a fetching pink collar, I'm not sure it understood what it was doing! However it is a brilliant act! And all I shall be mentioning, of course, are those dogs who, for those who don't know, are highly trainable creatures - somehow you’re not quite sure how this is achieved, we do like to add a bit of mystery, right! I've got some wonderful insights into the troupe’s backstage secrets and shall be posting about what I saw! The performance was hosted by an exciting dance crew in New York's East Village. It was an amazing day out, and not only that, they do have these adorable dog shelters right next door with an all-pink puppy room! I nearly adopted a little puppy myself! That's why you need to come and join my Pink Tutu club and follow me on my social media accounts as you all know, as soon as you find me, you can join the club, and my darling little puppy is the newest member! Her name is Petal, and oh, what fun she’ll have!

But of course, being in New York I’m going to visit some of those great museums I love, such as the Metropolitan Museum, I’m going to take pictures to inspire all you lovelies for a "Pink Tutu New York" event for my followers! There will be an award ceremony, lots of tutus (not just pink ones!) and it is bound to be a ball. Don't forget to tell all your friends to sign up, there are special gifts, all to make you beautiful and have some fun - I just need the funds, but that's my big secret for next week.

See you all next week.
