Pink Tutu Paris - Post #1362: A Pink Dream in the City of Lights! 🩰💖

Bonjour, mes amies!

This week, I'm writing to you from the magical city of Paris! The air is crisp, the streets are bustling, and the scent of fresh bread and buttery croissants is practically intoxicating. It's my favourite kind of Parisian morning – sunny and promising a day full of adventures.

It’s almost hard to believe that just yesterday I was saying goodbye to the rolling hills of Derbyshire, leaving the comfort of my little cottage, and bidding adieu to the familiar sounds of my ballet classes. But a quick train journey later, I'm standing on the platform of Gare du Nord, the iconic station with its grandeur and the distinct scent of travel, a feeling that never gets old. And oh, that incredible view as we crossed the channel - goodbye Dover, hello France!

This trip was inspired by a recent performance, actually – it was a beautiful piece by Les Grands Ballets, with choreography that drew me to this city and its unparalleled passion for all things dance. So, with my tickets booked on the Eurostar, a suitcase bursting with fabulous outfits (including my go-to pink tutu, of course!) and a heart brimming with excitement, I embarked on this incredible Parisian journey. And you know, every time I visit Paris, it feels like a first. It never ceases to amaze me with its romantic cobblestone streets, iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, and that unique, charming Parisian atmosphere.

My Parisian Pink Tutu Adventures

Now, Paris, as you know, is a city that practically begs to be explored in style! So, I’ve been getting out there, snapping pictures, indulging in fashion and trying to convince as many Parisians as possible to wear a pink tutu. (It’s proving to be a fun challenge!)

Friday Fling: Musée d'Orsay

My first stop yesterday was the magnificent Musée d’Orsay, a treasure trove of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masterpieces. Imagine stepping into a gallery with its towering glass ceiling and sunlight dancing on the masterpieces, and then... add a sprinkle of pink! Yes, I definitely caused a stir as I waltzed through the hallowed halls with my ballet-inspired outfit. The beauty of the paintings, particularly Degas's graceful dancers, felt so incredibly inspiring – it was as if his subjects were coming alive, urging me to twirl and express myself freely.

A Saturday Filled with Parisian Magic

This Saturday, I’m indulging in my other great loves - fashion and performance. Today's highlight is a ballet class at the renowned Paris Opera Ballet School, something I’ve always dreamt of doing! The elegance and artistry of the Parisian ballet dancers always fills me with inspiration and motivation. Plus, with this being my final weekend in Paris this trip, I want to soak up all the wonderful sights, sounds and atmosphere the city has to offer.

A Chic Fashion Find:

After my class, it’s off to one of the charming boutiques along rue de Rivoli. My mission: find the perfect little black dress – but let’s be honest, I might need a touch of pink for it too! And when I find the perfect dress (or two!), there’s a special cafe I’m hoping to visit in Montmartre. Think bohemian vibes, creative energy and maybe even a little impromptu ballet on the cobblestone steps!

Ending the Weekend in Pink-Tutu Perfection:

On Sunday, I’m heading to a delightful street performance in Place des Vosges – the energy of the artists, the rhythm of their performances… it’s all so exhilarating. It makes me want to join in the dance, and with the permission of the performers of course, I might even be encouraged to share my favourite choreographed piece.

Food for the Soul and the Tummy:

My favourite thing about Paris? It has to be the food, oh my goodness, the food! This trip, I’m going to try all those yummy, fluffy, irresistible croissants and decadent French macarons, indulging in all things French patisserie! And who knows, I might even get a lesson or two in the art of making pastries. But the most important thing, is that each meal should be accompanied by a cup of delicious, hot French coffee and a great conversation. I always love trying out new Parisian cafes - finding places that have a special buzz, good music and great food!
