Good morning, my darlings!
The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and I'm practically skipping down the cobbled streets of Prague with a huge grin on my face. Can you believe it's already May?! Time flies when you're twirling, my dears!
This week, I've packed my pinkest tutu, my fanciest feather boa, and my most whimsical pair of ballet flats. It's a pink-tastic adventure in Prague, and let me tell you, there's enough ballet, history, and charming cafe hopping to satisfy even the most ardent pink-tutu enthusiast.
Now, for those of you who haven't joined me in Prague before (it's one of my absolute favourites, you know!), let me give you the lowdown. This city is like a dream straight out of a ballet scene: a perfect mix of baroque grandeur, medieval magic, and a charming bohemian vibe. From the moment I arrived, stepping off the train in my (pink, naturally!) tailored dress and ballet flats, I felt a certain joie de vivre settling into my bones. And you know me, I'm always ready to dance!
This week, it was a delightful train journey, my darlings, to Prague. We travelled overnight, so the only sounds were the rhythmic clicking of the wheels on the tracks and my fellow travellers snoozing softly. It was utterly relaxing and peaceful โ the perfect preparation for my week ahead.
A Ballet History Bonanza
Yesterday, I took a dip into Prague's rich ballet history, which, as a self-proclaimed ballet fanatic, I found absolutely fascinating. The Prague State Opera House is absolutely stunning! I'm talking about chandeliers so grand, you could get lost in them (especially with a pink tutu on!), and a stage so vast, it seemed to stretch out forever.
What I found particularly fascinating is that the tradition of ballet in Prague dates all the way back to the 18th century. It's no surprise then that the city boasts several impressive ballet companies and schools, including the National Theatre Ballet. Imagine! So much ballet history in one place โ it just makes my heart twirl!
An Ode to Shopping and Fashion
No trip to Prague is complete without a little retail therapy, and let me tell you, my dear pink-tutu lovers, this city has no shortage of boutiques and designer shops! It was absolutely impossible to resist all the gorgeous clothes, especially the silk dresses that swished and flowed with every graceful movement.
Yesterday, I found myself in a lovely little shop nestled amidst the charming cobbled streets, overflowing with exquisite tulle skirts and the most fabulous vintage shoes. The owner, a sweet, chatty woman with sparkling eyes and a love for all things glamorous, offered me a warm welcome and a delicious cup of tea. We spent a delightful hour chatting about our shared love of all things pink and frilly. I walked out with a beautiful silk dress the colour of a rose petal, just perfect for tonight's performance at the Prague State Opera House! I also purchased the most divine sequined tutu, but that, my dear readers, is a secret for another post!
Dancing Under the Stars at the National Theatre
Tonight, I'll be watching a performance of "Swan Lake" at the magnificent National Theatre. I can't tell you how excited I am! I love "Swan Lake," and its tale of forbidden love, magical transformations, and the triumph of good over evil just gets my heart racing. I expect the performance will be simply breathtaking. The dancers, of course, will be in the traditional white tutus, which I can't wait to admire! I hope I see some pretty pink tutus in the audience, too, of course. I've got my pink opera gloves all set!
This performance is what has inspired this post, of course, because after seeing "Swan Lake," I will go to the famous 'Cafe Louvre,' so loved by artists and musicians, to relax and have a glass of delicious Czech beer in my elegant pink dress! What could be more inspiring? I'll tell you all about my experience tomorrow.
Until next time, darlings! Keep your tutus twirling, your smiles bright, and your spirits high!
Love always,
Emma
