Prague in Pink: A Ballerina's Dream (Blog Post #1573)

Hello my darlings, and welcome back to my little corner of the internet, www.pink-tutu.com! This week, I'm writing to you from the enchanting city of Prague, a place where history whispers on every cobblestone and the air hums with an energy that makes my heart beat a little faster. I'm here for a little bit of culture, a whole lot of shopping, and to see the exquisite "Pink Tutus of Prague" exhibition at the stunning National Theatre. I can’t wait to tell you all about it!

But before we delve into the delights of Prague, let me tell you a little bit about my journey. This week, I travelled by train from Vienna, a luxurious experience in itself. The plush seats, the views, the chance to escape the hustle and bustle – there's something magical about a good train journey. Plus, it's so much more eco-friendly than flying, and that makes my ballerina heart sing! Of course, no journey is complete without a touch of pink, so I wore my new dusty rose tulle skirt and a chic ivory top, adding a little splash of pink with a velvet beret. Every outfit deserves a touch of magic, wouldn’t you agree?

As soon as I arrived in Prague, I felt like I’d stepped onto the set of a fairy tale. The Old Town Square is a true marvel – the vibrant colours, the charming architecture, the aroma of fresh pastries… it’s a true feast for the senses! My hotel is a little boutique gem tucked away in a quiet alley. Its charm is undeniable – think elegant chandeliers, floral wallpaper, and a bathtub big enough for a proper bubble bath (and my beloved pink bath ducks, of course!).

Now, I couldn't visit Prague without paying my respects to the exquisite world of Czech ballet! After all, this city boasts a rich history of dance, from the grand opera houses to the bustling street performances. Today, I went to see the stunning “Pink Tutus of Prague” exhibition. It was utterly breathtaking, showcasing the history of ballet and the iconic tutus worn by some of the world's most renowned dancers, from the dreamy pinks of Giselle to the flamboyant fuchsia of La Bayadère. Honestly, every single tutu was a work of art! The colours, the textures, the delicate lacework – each tutu held a story and reminded me why I’m so passionate about this art form. I even took a peek at the studio where these beautiful creations were crafted – a true feast for the eyes, if ever I saw one!

Later today, I’m indulging in some quintessential Prague activities – indulging in a delicious slice of the famous Czech pastry, Trdlo, at a traditional bakery near the Charles Bridge. And I’m already planning a grand adventure tomorrow! Imagine – exploring Prague’s picturesque cobbled streets in my brand new tulle skirt, accompanied by the soft melodies of a street musician. Oh, the magic! I'll be sharing my adventures on my Instagram stories (@pinktutuemma) so be sure to follow me for all the live updates.

This blog post has been a little light on my usual tips, but I will delve into the more practical aspects of visiting this magical city next week! I have an incredible itinerary planned for you, my darlings, and a whole host of fashion recommendations – after all, where better to indulge in chic, fairytale-esque clothes than in Prague?

In the meantime, do send me your recommendations for things to do, places to eat, and secret spots in this captivating city.

Keep your tutus twirling,

Emma

Fashion Fables: A Pink-hued Promenade

As you all know, fashion is an integral part of my life – especially when travelling! Prague is a sartorial wonderland, brimming with independent boutiques, designer stores, and even vintage shops with unique treasures. It’s been like a feast for the eyes, especially for someone who lives and breathes for the color pink. And I haven't held back, my darlings, I've been buying pink tutus for all occasions: for walking through the old town, for enjoying the delights of traditional Czech pastry, even for sitting by the Vltava River, feeling the romantic vibes as I gaze at the city lights reflected in the water. A little bit of pink can really transform an outfit, and in this beautiful city, it just feels...perfect!

Yesterday, I stepped out in my cherry blossom pink tutu with an off-the-shoulder white blouse, which perfectly captured the dreamy spirit of Prague. As I twirled under the Charles Bridge, I felt like I was living out my very own fairy tale. Honestly, you’ve never seen a city as romantic as Prague in a cherry blossom pink tutu. My friends couldn't stop giggling, and even a charming elderly gentleman, with a twinkle in his eye, gave me a hearty "Brava!" And that, my darlings, is the magic of pink!

Today, I’m embracing a more boho-chic vibe – a vintage lilac dress, a soft peach scarf, and a touch of delicate embroidery. The dress is a vintage find from a charming boutique tucked away in a quaint alley, and the scarf, well, it just screams Prague – the intricate floral patterns remind me of the city's whimsical gardens. Oh, the fashion, my darlings!

Speaking of whimsical gardens, today we’re venturing into one of Prague’s hidden gems – Petřín Hill. I've heard it's an idyllic setting for picnics, complete with sprawling gardens and incredible views. We’ll be enjoying a classic Czech picnic of sausages, bread, cheese, and a delightful apple tart.

Ballet Behind the Curtain: Secrets of the Czech Ballet

Beyond the dreamy outfits and vibrant streets, Prague offers a treasure trove of balletic history. This city has been a vibrant hub of dance for centuries, giving birth to legendary choreographers, nurturing young dancers, and staging grand ballets. It’s like a pilgrimage for any ballerina!

Tomorrow, I'm embarking on a captivating exploration of the Prague State Opera, the heart of the city's operatic and ballet heritage. Imagine me – in a vintage lavender tulle skirt, my hair adorned with a delicate pearl headband, feeling like I’m in a scene straight out of "Swan Lake." The tour promises a peek behind the curtain at the grandeur of the stage, a glimpse of the rehearsal rooms where dancers train, and the chance to soak up the history and grandeur of the opera house. The possibilities, my darlings, are endless.

My adventure wouldn't be complete without visiting the National Theatre, the city’s iconic landmark, and the home to a phenomenal ballet troupe. While we're in the city, we’ll also be seeing a performance of Swan Lake – it’s considered one of the most beautiful ballets ever created, and to experience it here, in Prague, will be a truly magical experience. Imagine me, twirling to the sweet melody of the ballet, wearing a dusty pink tutu – ah, the perfect ending to this journey.

Beyond the Tutus: The Essence of Prague

As you can see, I’m not just here for ballet, my darlings! Prague is a feast for all the senses. I'm enjoying every moment: from sipping coffee at a charming cafe overlooking the Vltava River, to taking long walks through the historic city centre, marveling at the Gothic architecture, to enjoying delicious Czech food – all with a side of bubbly and good company. I’ve been to many wonderful places in the world but I can already say that Prague is in a league of its own. I'll tell you why:

A Blend of Past and Present: Prague is a fascinating mix of old and new. From the cobbled streets of the Old Town Square to the modern art galleries, there's something for everyone, making it a place where you can get lost in the past or embrace the present, depending on your mood. It’s a perfect place for a dreamy getaway, for exploring your creativity, or for getting inspired!

Charming Characters: Whether it's a street artist selling handmade jewellery, a traditional baker showcasing his incredible creations, or a charismatic local tour guide with a plethora of fascinating stories – there’s a charm to the people of Prague, a warmth and kindness that will steal your heart.

Romance in the Air: From the charming bridges and hidden alleys to the sparkling Vltava River – Prague is practically bursting with romance! This is why Prague is often referred to as the “City of Love." I can see why.

I’ve fallen in love with Prague’s charm and wonder! And as always, I’m thrilled to share my journey with you – a mix of fairy-tale experiences and real-life tips – because that’s what makes this little pink tutu adventure special!

I'm sending all my love from Prague,

Emma
