Hey my loves! It’s Emma, your pink tutu princess, back with post number 10533! Buckle up, darlings, because this is a real twirling tale you won’t want to miss!
This week, I’ve traded my usual Derbyshire green fields for the bustling streets of Bexleyheath. Yep, you heard that right, London calling! Now, I love a good city adventure, especially when it’s sprinkled with a touch of ballet magic. This time, I’m here for a private ballet class hosted by the ever-so-lovely Bexleyheath Ballet Studio. Can you imagine? My heart was doing a full-on pirouette just thinking about it!
Speaking of twirling, did I mention I brought my absolute favourite tutu? It’s a classic, a soft pink tulle number with layers upon layers, perfect for catching the sunshine (or, in this case, the neon London lights)! But here’s where things got interesting - and a little bit hair-raising.
My usual travelling method involves the train, or even the occasional jaunty ride on horseback. (Trust me, it's easier to navigate than you might think!). This time though, a twist of fate led me to a car journey, courtesy of a rather eccentric gentleman (we'll call him "Lord Charles" for this tale). Now, you know how I adore tutus, and even though Lord Charles was a delightful, flamboyant man, his chariot was slightly less spacious than a royal carriage!
As I crammed myself and my very, very large tutu into his vintage MG (think leather seats and lots of character), I realised that even the most adventurous ballet enthusiast might find a situation like this tricky! The car itself was practically groaning, and at one point, I felt like a folded-up ballet dancer squeezed into a tiny ballerina box! Thankfully, I'm incredibly flexible (thanks to years of ballet!), so we managed to arrive in Bexleyheath unscathed. But let’s just say it made for a very interesting arrival!
Of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the highlight of this trip: the ballet class itself! Now, Bexleyheath Ballet Studio is like stepping into a fairytale, full of charm and vibrant energy. The class itself was a wonderful blend of technique and fun - we worked on those crucial core strength exercises, perfected some stunning grand jetés, and finished with a flurry of lively barre combinations. My muscles are definitely feeling it today, but I’d do it all again in a heartbeat!
The thing about ballet, though, is it’s not just about the physicality. It’s a wonderful art form, yes, but it’s also about finding strength, expressing your soul, and having the confidence to embrace yourself. That’s why, as you know, I want to inspire everyone to give ballet a try - because it really does transform you from the inside out. It doesn’t matter if you’re wearing a sparkling pink tutu, a classic black leotard, or even just your favourite jeans – ballet is all about freedom of expression and celebrating that incredible inner ballerina within each of us.
I promise to update you on all my other London adventures (and you bet there will be many more tutu moments!), but for now, let me know your favourite ballet steps, or your most daring outfits!
Remember, darling, keep twirling and keep shining!
Love, Emma www.pink-tutu.com
