Kendal Calling: A Pink Tutu Adventure! (Post #10548)

Hello my gorgeous tutu-lovers! 🩰

It’s Emma here, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, reporting live from the enchanting town of Kendal, nestled in the heart of the Lake District! You know how much I love getting out and about, and today's journey was particularly special, a journey fuelled by my undying love for all things pink and all things twirling!

So, here’s the lowdown. I decided to ditch the car for this adventure (what's a road trip without a touch of old-fashioned charm?), opting instead for a delightful train ride. Honestly, it's such a fabulous way to travel, you get to admire the changing scenery, the world whipping past the window, and if you’re lucky, even spot some majestic wildlife – I was particularly delighted to spot a whole family of red deer, a breathtaking sight! 🦌

As I arrived in Kendal, my senses were immediately enchanted. It felt like stepping back in time, with quaint cobbled streets, historic buildings with charming window boxes overflowing with blooms, and an atmosphere that was pure, unadulterated bliss.

And, of course, what better way to embrace the beautiful surroundings than by twirling in my favourite black tutu! It’s got this fabulous midnight blue underlay with delicate embroidery, making it feel like a piece of magic in my hands. This tutu, my darlings, is just the perfect companion for an adventure in Kendal.

You see, this wasn't just a trip for me. Kendal was playing host to the magical "Kendal Calling" festival, a music extravaganza that promised to be nothing short of fabulous. But hold your horses, this festival wasn't all about rocking out (though I definitely did plenty of that!), it also had a special "family fun zone" where I knew my little pink-tutu heart would absolutely thrive!

Stepping into the family zone felt like stepping into a dreamland of fairy lights, vibrant music, and endless possibilities. Imagine a whole space dedicated to all things pink and twirly, filled with the sweet music of a live string quartet, and the joyous laughter of children. And guess what? It also included a pop-up ballet school! I could hardly believe my eyes - this festival was practically designed for a girl like me. I grabbed my tutu, did a quick hair-flip and joined the ballet fun, making new friends and perfecting some elegant moves – always good practice, wouldn’t you agree? 😉

But that wasn't all, oh no! We got a chance to join the fabulous "Kids In Kendal" dance performance - I'm talking an absolute explosion of color, with all the little ballerinas twirling and spinning like adorable little whirlwinds, myself included. And, the icing on the cake? The best "mini-me" tutu I've ever seen! It was pure pink, so bright and bubbly it was practically radiating joy, and it was absolutely perfect on one of the sweetest little ballerinas I've ever met - she literally looked like she had sprung from the pages of a fairytale.

The afternoon ended with an unforgettable performance of the "Ballet in the Woods," an enchanting production staged in a clearing under the shadow of a giant, ancient oak tree. You wouldn't believe how much beauty could be found in that natural amphitheatre. With the setting sun casting its warm glow on the performers, the air filled with the music of nature, the beauty of the music was amplified - a perfect blend of natural and theatrical beauty.

You know what my darlings, this trip was a true testament to how beautiful and accessible the ballet world is. Everywhere I looked in Kendal there was inspiration, joy and just pure love. From the streets filled with music, laughter, and vibrant colour to the magical ballet performances and even the adorable, pint-sized dancers taking to the stage, it's safe to say my heart was full!

Remember, my darlings, my mission is simple: To make ballet a part of everyone's life. We need to embrace the power of a twirl, the joy of a pirouette and the magic that comes from expressing yourself through the language of movement. And Kendal, with its beautiful scenery, fantastic festivals, and infectious enthusiasm, definitely proved that the dance floor is for everyone.

Until next time, stay sparkly and don’t forget to wear your pink tutu!

Lots of love,

Emma xoxo
