Bournemouth Calling: Pink Tutu & Sea Air (Post #10603)

Hello my lovely tutu-tastic followers! Emma here, and let me tell you, Bournemouth is truly a delightful gem, just begging to be danced upon!

I've arrived, bright and early this morning, not on a boring old plane (who wants to deal with the queues!), but on a glorious train journey. Watching the world whizz by, feeling the rhythm of the tracks, it's the perfect way to start any adventure. Especially one involving pink tutus and beautiful scenery!

I'm staying at the most darling seaside B&B, it has floral wallpaper, lace curtains and a breakfast buffet that makes me want to wear my tutu every morning. The staff are a right laugh too! You know, one of those "how are you today love? Would you like a slice of Victoria sponge?" type of places. Absolutely perfect!

So, my agenda today involves a whole lot of… well, pink tutu fun, of course! I’m off to Bournemouth Pier in a moment to catch some waves and soak up the vitamin D (you never know, some of you lot might even be down there watching, haha!). Maybe I’ll try some underwater ballet for a video. Who's in for an ocean pirouette?!

This evening, I'm booked into the Bournemouth Ballet Theatre to catch a performance of "Swan Lake," featuring a stunning new choreography. (Spoiler Alert: I will definitely be wearing pink. It’s a theme, okay? ) I'm just a little excited to see this ballet in a seaside setting. Something tells me it will be just as majestic, maybe even a little more whimsical, with the ocean as the backdrop! Don't even get me started on the possible tutu looks, it’s giving graceful swan vibes, oh the possibilities…

Anyway, while I'm waiting for my seaside date with the "Swan Lake" company, I thought I'd share some travel tips with you lovely lot, after all, who better than a tutu-wearing traveller to give advice, right?

Travelling Tutu Style - Emma's Top Tips
  1. Pink is the way to go. Always, in every situation. It just brightens up even the dullest train carriage, don't you agree? I know I get a lot of stares, but hey, that’s just the price of being fashionable!

  2. Pack your ballet shoes. They fold flat so take up little space in your luggage and you never know when you’ll stumble upon a chance to dance (train stations, bus stops…you’d be surprised!). It’s all about embracing the unexpected and never saying no to a little ballet improvisation! I always have mine with me - you know, in case I spot a cute chihuahua to dance with (I find dogs LOVE ballet!), or if there's a little bit of floor space near the baggage carousel!

  3. Embrace the quirky. I once met the sweetest man at a fish market in Devon. Turns out, he loved his life as a sea-urchin diver and was fascinated with ballet. Who knew, right?! You never know where you'll meet your next pink tutu convert. It's the best part about travelling, it really helps you grow. And don’t worry about packing for every occasion! Sometimes a simple tulle skirt works as a beachwear option, just toss on a beachy floral top and BAM! You're ready to party, or you know, take a walk on the pier!

  4. Be open to adventures. Travel is all about spontaneity. That detour to that quaint, seaside cafe with the delicious Victoria sponge I mentioned earlier? Total impulse buy and so worth it. My taste buds were so grateful!

  5. Embrace the wild. Oh, you just know there's a story behind that adorable little penguin you met, or that cheeky seagull on the beach. We’re all a bit wild inside and embracing that energy, that energy can take you so far. Speaking of wild…did I tell you about the adorable family of seals I met last week while on my horse riding adventure? We were just strolling through the woods when there they were, frolicking in the shallows. We watched each other for a while and, honestly, we were just so graceful and silly in our own ways!

Back to Bournemouth

Oh, there’s so much more to see and do here, but honestly, it’s a whirlwind so I’ve gotta get back to it. I’ll definitely be back here to explore even more – the New Forest, the Jurassic Coast, maybe even some quaint local shops (looking for some inspiration for my next Tutu creation, I’ve been dying for something in turquoise!). If you’re heading to Bournemouth this summer, let me know, I might be able to meet you for a pirouette on the beach!

Until next time, darling tutus, stay curious, be adventurous, and always, always wear your pink with pride. You never know who you might inspire!

See you soon! Emma
