Hello darlings! It's Emma, your resident pink-tutu enthusiast, and today I'm absolutely bursting to share my adventures from Edmonton! Now, I know what you're thinking: Edmonton? Isn't that a bit⦠erm⦠north? Well, let me tell you, this vibrant Canadian city has totally stolen my heart. It's full of life, culture, and surprisingly, very pink-tutu friendly.
Now, I don't need to tell you, my lovely readers, that a true ballerina's journey is about so much more than just a stage. It's about discovering new places, meeting fabulous people, and spreading the joy of dance in every corner of the world! And how do I get around, you ask? Well, sometimes I take the scenic route by train (oh, how I adore a good carriage ride!) or even ride a majestic steed to my destinations! (Yes, I have a little secret love for horses, and it doesn't hurt that they look divine in pink ribbons!).
But back to Edmonton, darlings! I've got to tell you about my latest discovery - the coolest dance store ever! You can imagine my excitement as I walked through the door and felt the most delicious whiff of freshly pressed tulle. My eyes practically popped out! They had every single shade of pink imaginable, not to mention all the sequins, rhinestones, and feather boas a ballerina could ever dream of! It was truly a tutu paradise.
Of course, I couldn't resist treating myself to a little something, couldn't I? I fell head over heels for this divine german tutu, just bursting with that quintessential Victorian romance. Think black velvet ribbons, ivory silk, and a whisper of black tulle cascading down my legs. It's like something straight out of Swan Lake, don't you think? I even got a matching beret, just to add a little bit of Parisian flair (I may have just stumbled into a haberdashery too, but who's keeping count?!).
Naturally, the real highlight of any trip is the dance, and Edmonton truly exceeded my expectations! I found a wonderful ballet class held in the heart of the city. The studio was beautifully decorated (think soaring ceilings and floors polished to perfection!), and everyone was so welcoming! We did some beautiful stretches and warmed up with some traditional plies. It was amazing to share this space with dancers from all backgrounds and ages. There was something so special about watching little ballerinas discover the magic of movement!
Now, I can't forget my theatre adventures! There was this phenomenal performance of "Giselle," an absolute masterpiece. The choreography was breathtaking, the dancers were divine, and I'm pretty sure I felt every single flutter of the heroine's heart. There was just this raw, emotional beauty that left me speechless! And even though they didn't have a pink tutu on, I just knew I could see the joy of ballet in their every step!
Speaking of the magic of dance, I also had the opportunity to meet a very special local group that are bringing ballet out into the community. They organise classes and workshops for children who might not otherwise have access to dance. These children just radiated energy, joy, and a passion for movement that truly touched my heart! And let's be real, who could say no to seeing their faces light up when I popped in wearing my new tutu? It felt like magic.
This beautiful journey has been filled with laughter, sunshine, a LOT of pink, and so many delightful people. The Edmonton air has just switched on the joy in me!
Here's to new adventures, new discoveries, and more importantly, to spreading the love of dance in all its beautiful forms! Remember, my darlings, it doesn't matter if you wear a pink tutu or not, what truly matters is to dance with your heart. Until next time!
Love always,
Emma x
P.S. I did find an adorable pair of pink bunny slippers for sale! I'm not sure I really need them, but how could I possibly resist such adorable fluffiness?!
