Burnley Bound: Pink Tutu Takes on the Pennines! 🩰

Hello darlings! πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ It's your girl, Emma, back with another dose of pink-tutu-fied joy! πŸŽ€

Today, I'm embracing my inner Victorian explorer, trading in my usual city strolls for a grand adventure into the wilds of the Pennines. No, I'm not going full Jane Eyre (though, wouldn't that be a fab story for my tutu?) – I'm off to the bustling town of Burnley, Lancashire!

I must confess, Burnley wasn't initially on my travel radar. It seemed more industrial than my usual artsy hotspots. But then I stumbled upon a beautiful picture of the Towneley Hall Museum & Sculpture Gardens online. The grand estate, nestled among rolling green hills, looked like the perfect spot for a fairytale picnic, so naturally, I had to investigate further.

And when I saw the packed calendar of dance performances happening there, well, you know me, my inner pirouette went crazy! It's like the universe itself was nudging me towards Burnley with a β€œGo on, Emma, it’s going to be fabulous!” kind of vibe.

Of course, travelling with a tutu requires a little extra consideration. ✈️ So, instead of hopping on a plane (who has the time for those pesky airport security checks anyway?), I decided to go old-school: Train travel! It's the ultimate glamorous getaway experience! Plus, who doesn’t love gazing out the window as the countryside whizzes by? Especially when it's looking as scenic as the Pennines! πŸ”οΈ

But first, the outfit! πŸ‘— Let’s be honest, this journey couldn't happen without a bit of a statement, right?

Now, normally I wouldn't think pink would be the ideal colour for an outdoorsy adventure. But Burnley was beckoning for something a little extra, something playful to contrast those gorgeous rolling green fields! I envisioned myself pirouette-ing under a big blue sky, so the decision was easy: Pink tulle in all its glory! 🌸

I paired my trusty full-length pink tutu with a whimsical lace blouse in a vintage pale green shade, all topped off with my go-to dusty rose felt hat. A dash of sparkling silver earrings, some comfy flats (essential for all that exploring!) and I was ready to embrace the day! ✨

The journey itself was magical, full of little adventures. There was that delightful moment when I shared a smile with a little girl on the platform who gasped and exclaimed, "Oh, you're the pink tutu lady!" 🀩 (Don't worry, I signed her autograph, she was an absolute doll!) And then, the countryside - so peaceful, so breathtaking! I just had to get out at one of the charming countryside stations, tutu flowing in the breeze, to take in the view! 🌸 🏞️

Finally, after a leisurely (and totally glam) train journey, I arrived in Burnley, where the historic Towneley Hall was patiently waiting for me. It was even more magical in person than the pictures! The building itself is straight out of a fairytale, its facade beautifully reminiscent of the grand old houses of my home in Derbyshire. The surrounding gardens were a sight to behold, sprawling across acres of beautifully manicured lawns, filled with colourful flower beds and even a couple of swans gracing the tranquil ponds! πŸ¦†

And, as a bonus, Towneley Hall had the cutest little tea room. Imagine a classic Victorian tearoom with a pink-tutu twist. Imagine a fluffy cream cake (so good!), a pot of aromatic tea, and me spinning in a delightful pirouette in a full-length tulle skirt before indulging in the afternoon delight. Oh yes! You can picture me now, can’t you? πŸ₯°

But of course, the best part was about to unfold…

The performance was incredible. The ballet was a modern retelling of Swan Lake, with stunning costumes, evocative music, and graceful dancers. Watching those passionate and talented ballerinas on stage just set my soul ablaze! πŸ’– It's a constant reminder why I'm so madly in love with this art form. It's pure magic!

This wasn't your usual ballet show. There was a vibrancy in the air, a palpable connection between the performers and the audience. I think they were as mesmerised by the performance as I was! It was exhilarating! ✨

My Burnley trip was an absolute fairytale! Towneley Hall, the friendly faces of Burnley, the beautiful landscape, the mesmerizing dance, it was a day full of joy, a reminder that sometimes the most magical journeys happen when you least expect them! πŸ’•

Now, for those of you in Burnley, who saw a flash of pink flitting about the town, it was just your girl Emma! 😜 And don't worry, you don't have to venture out into the Pennines to embrace your own pink tutu moments! It’s as simple as a ballet class, a twirl in your living room, or even just slipping on your most dazzling pink outfit for a night out. Life is too short to not be playful, to not dance to your own beat! 🎢

So what are you waiting for? Embrace the pink tutu, get your twirl on, and don't forget to tell me all about it in the comments below!

See you soon,

Emma πŸ’–
