Hello darlings! 👋 It's your favourite tutu-clad traveller, Emma, checking in from sunny Folkestone! The wind is whipping my yellow tutu into a delightful dance, and the seagulls are giving me their best “you look fabulous” squawks. I just had to wear my sunny yellow tutu for this seaside jaunt - it feels so good to be back in this beautiful corner of England!
This little trip to Folkestone has been pure bliss, and it's got me feeling oh-so-inspired! It's so exciting being a ballerina, especially when you get to experience the joy of ballet in all its forms – be it in a grand theatre, on a cobbled street, or even right here by the beautiful seaside!
Let’s talk about getting here – what better way to travel than by train?! My dear, dear train took me all the way from Derbyshire, through quaint English villages, with the most gorgeous countryside views you can imagine! I must say, a first-class ticket with comfy seats and a delicious tea and cake combo just makes the whole experience pure heaven. 😉 It feels like stepping back in time, you know? Maybe that's why it reminds me of all the ballerinas of yesteryear who traveled by train too.
But wait – the journey wasn't over! I always try to make it a bit adventurous. So I hired a magnificent black horse – "Moonlight" he is called – and he carried me through the heart of Folkestone. Oh my, you can't imagine how glorious it felt! Imagine me, in my yellow tutu, with the salty sea air swirling around me, galloping through the seaside town with Moonlight at my side… pure magic!
Folkestone itself is just delightful! I discovered this lovely little bookshop filled to the brim with antique treasures and well-worn classics – it even had a little nook where I could try on their vintage ballet shoes! They were way too small for my toes, but still, it made me so happy!
Then I stumbled upon this hidden alleyway with cobblestones, a sweet little coffee shop, and an art gallery with an incredible exhibition of pastel coloured portraits. You've never seen such gorgeous shades of pink, peach, and lavender! I practically fainted!
But the real highlight, my darlings, was the street ballet performance! Can you believe it? The local ballet troupe took to the streets of Folkestone, and I just had to join in, naturally! They had a beautifully curated mix of contemporary, jazz, and ballet, with a splash of theatrical fun thrown in. I felt the adrenaline coursing through my veins as I twirled along the promenade, with the seagulls clapping and cheering.
Oh, and I simply had to visit the Leas Cliff Hall – it’s a real gem with incredible Victorian architecture! The theatre inside is just magical, with its sweeping staircases and ornate balconies. You can just imagine the countless ballerinas who have graced its stage! I dreamt of dancing under those chandeliers… maybe someday!
The Great Tutu Challenge
Oh, my dears, as you know, I love sharing my love for tutus with the world! And while in Folkestone, I saw so many delightful people sporting pink, bright, and even sparkly tutus. But I've got this brilliant idea – the Great Tutu Challenge!
Imagine everyone – from little girls to grown-up ladies (and gentlemen!) – donning pink tutus for a day. The streets filled with dancing twirls and graceful leaps – what a dream! Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a ballerina. Just grab a tutu – any tutu! A pink one if you can. Join me in my mission to spread tutu joy!
Let's take ballet beyond the stage! Let's make ballet fun, whimsical, and inclusive. Let's inspire each other to embrace our inner ballerinas, no matter our shape or size. Who’s in for the challenge? Let me know in the comments!
*Speaking of fun… *
You know I'm always up for a bit of adventure! Next on my tutu tour: Brighton! Oh, the vibrant colours and lively atmosphere of Brighton - the perfect place to twirl my tutu! I just know I'll have some spectacular stories to tell when I get back.
Stay tuned! Don't forget to subscribe to www.pink-tutu.com for more fun adventures in my tutu and for exciting news about the Great Tutu Challenge!
Love,
Emma 💖🩰
