Wishaw Whirlwind: A Tutu-ful Train Journey!

#TutuBlog Post 10802 | 29th January 2026

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad blogger, back with another dose of dance, fashion, and fun. This week, I’m taking you on a little trip with me, all the way to Wishaw in Scotland! I know what you’re thinking - why Wishaw? Well, as I’ve told you all before, darling, life’s a stage, and every location has a story to tell!

Now, you know me – I can't resist a good train journey, especially when a pretty pink tutu is involved. I had my eye on a sunshine-yellow tulle creation, just perfect for this wintery weather (and a bit of a colour pop, natch!), and it needed its first outing. A journey up north was exactly the ticket!

Of course, I couldn’t embark on a trip like this without first gracing my local dance studio, “Derbyshire Delights”, for a session of glorious ballet. It's amazing how a good pirouette and a few pliés can energise you for the day. It’s a classic ritual I swear by. And don't even get me started on the delicious cup of peppermint tea I treat myself to afterwards!

My arrival at Wishaw Station was positively magical. The quaint station with its weathered brick facade and the snow-dusted hills in the background had that air of charming mystery that makes your heart flutter. I’m a sucker for any location with a whiff of history, darling, especially when it’s served up alongside a sprinkle of charm!

After my little dance studio session and the train journey, I was positively buzzing with energy. First stop: the gorgeous Wishaw Nature Reserve! A serene space where nature and urban beauty collide, creating a perfect oasis. And let me tell you, this is the perfect setting for a pink tutu-wearing ballet dancer! I was surrounded by stunning views - babbling brooks, rolling green hills, and the sweetest little birds singing their hearts out. You might find yourself seeing pink tutus flutter in the trees, darlings – that's just my imagination playing tricks! 😉

But my adventures didn’t stop there! Wishaw itself is full of hidden gems – an enchanting Victorian-era library that's as gorgeous as it is functional (you know, for a fellow bibliophile like myself!), charming little coffee shops that serve the most divine cakes, and even a delightful arts centre where I indulged in some delightful visual delights – an exhibition of stunning modern sculptures!

To say that Wishaw captured my heart would be an understatement. This delightful little Scottish town is definitely a treasure trove waiting to be discovered, brimming with vibrant history, artistic flair, and enough natural beauty to make your head spin!

Of course, the day wouldn't have been complete without some more ballet. I found a wonderful dance studio hidden away in a back street. A real hidden gem, you might say. The class was packed full of eager students, with ages spanning the spectrum, which I absolutely adore! I always say that ballet is a journey for everyone, regardless of age, experience, or body shape! (My dear readers know how passionate I am about making dance accessible to all! - #tutuforthepeople ) They loved my yellow tutu as much as I did, and, after our workout, we had a wonderful little afternoon tea where we chatted about all things ballet, dreams, and fashion! It’s so rewarding to be able to share my passion with others. Every time I have a new experience like this, I feel my belief in my “Every Girl Should Wear A Pink Tutu” project get stronger and stronger.

After the beautiful afternoon tea, the skies opened and it was the most spectacularly dreamy, silver snowfall. The snow settled in the tree branches, like icing sugar on a Christmas cake, and it sparkled in the crisp air. The only sound was the soft, quiet whispers of the snow falling onto the earth - oh, the romance of it all, darling! I truly believe I was channeling a little bit of Giselle magic – a tutu-fied ballet spirit of the snow dancing around town in Wishaw!

My journey home was a blissful reflection of the day. Snuggled in my seat, gazing out the train window as the winter wonderland landscape slipped past – oh, how lovely it is to appreciate the simpler things in life! The train, with its smooth, rhythmical glide, reminded me of my favourite ballet moves and my dreams of becoming a prima ballerina, though with a little bit more flair – think bold, vibrant pink tutus for the grand finale!

You can take the ballerina out of the pink tutu, but you can't take the pink tutu out of the ballerina! Or, so I've discovered on this wonderful, snowy adventure. Wishaw is truly a town with a story to tell – and I am definitely looking forward to another visit to explore the secrets it holds, darling. But for now, I must sign off for the day.

Don’t forget, darlings, every day is an opportunity to add a touch of magic into the world. What will your ballet journey be like today?

Until tomorrow,

Emma xx
