Hello, lovelies! It's your girl Emma here, coming to you live from sunny Plymouth! Yes, believe it or not, this little Derbyshire lass has made it to the coast (and by "made it" I mean boarded a lovely, luxurious train and gazed out of the window, listening to a delightful playlist and daydreaming about all the adventures to come – because, let's face it, even the journey is an adventure when you're rocking a pink tutu!).
This is post number 10851 for me – and that's a lot of pink tutus, friends! It never ceases to amaze me that you lovely lot come back every single day to see what kind of shenanigans this tutu-loving gal is getting up to. So, to show my appreciation, I'm going to spill all the deets about my time in Plymouth. And yes, my darling readers, this time, I brought the brightest pink tutu I could find! It really makes a statement. 💖
Plymouth's Ballet BrillianceYou know how much I adore ballet. It's not just the artistry, it's the whole experience - the grace, the beauty, the feeling of flight, the stories told through the bodies of talented dancers… it truly transports you. Plymouth's got some serious ballet cred, with a fabulous Royal Opera House ballet school that I got to sneak a peek inside! Imagine – I'm a ballet enthusiast just standing in the doorway, almost giddy, soaking in all the atmosphere – a bit like when I first discovered the magic of ballet! The energy, the passion, the raw talent… it’s just something else!
And guess what? There’s a little secret tucked away in the heart of Plymouth - a community ballet school called The Dancing Pineapple, with lessons and performances showcasing local talent. This charming studio really is an oasis for all things ballet. I took a drop-in class, and let me tell you – these lovely folk really do make magic happen! You'll find their Facebook page on my website – I highly recommend taking a class with these incredible, passionate dancers!
A Touch of Whimsy at the National Marine AquariumThis city is right on the coast, and of course I had to explore! The National Marine Aquarium blew me away! Not only is it full of fascinating sea life, but they have the coolest seahorse exhibit ever. Can you believe, they even had a giant seahorse statue in front of it! 🐠✨ My trusty pink tutu turned heads even amongst the playful antics of the clownfish, the majestic jellyfish, and all those lovely creatures – I really am becoming quite the icon in this pink tutu! You really do make a splash wearing a statement outfit, you know?
The thing is, I absolutely love that people stare! Let’s face it, a bright pink tutu is hard to ignore, and what I’ve discovered over the years is that it also opens a dialogue. I love to strike up a chat, whether it’s a friendly stranger at the station or someone curious in a museum. The whole pink tutu thing helps people break the ice – a little splash of pink is such a good thing!
A Romantic Dinner in BarbicanAfter exploring the beautiful waterfront, I discovered Barbican – the historic part of Plymouth with winding alleyways, charming cobbled streets and stunning views of the harbour! I felt a little bit like I’d stepped back in time - just with a brighter pink tutu! It was the perfect place for a delicious, romantic dinner overlooking the sea, sipping a lovely glass of prosecco.
And you know what's great about wearing pink in such a charming setting? It's like a little nod to the past, but with a modern, joyful twist. Pink always adds a touch of whimsy to every place it goes, even historic Barbican!
Horsepower and a Tutu TwistYou might be surprised to know that one of the highlights of my trip was getting on a real-life horse! It was a gorgeous dappled grey called Misty - the kind of horse that dreams are made of - and she trotted me around Plymouth Sound with a gentle, graceful pace. And, of course, I couldn't resist wearing my bright pink tutu. 🦄
Think about it – a pink tutu and a beautiful horse… could this be a ballet-inspired fairytale happening in real life? It definitely was for me. My love for ballet has no boundaries, even when it comes to discovering new adventures and exploring different ways to be playful with life.
Finding Pink Everywhere!Everywhere I go, I’m seeing pink and I love it! Maybe it’s because I’ve been rocking this bright pink tutu for so long, but I’ve found it everywhere in Plymouth! From a bright pink gelato shop with amazing raspberry sorbet to the blush-toned granite rocks that dot the Plymouth coastline - it's as if the world's conspiring to help me spread my pink message!
Even my train back to Derbyshire, a lovely, bright red and cream carriage, seemed to have a subtle pink sheen to it when I caught it in the light. It was like the world was telling me: “Emma, you are not alone in your pink passion.” 🥰
The Pink Tutu MovementI’m a huge believer that a little bit of pink can change the world – one bright pink tutu at a time, my dears! So let's get this pink revolution started! This post, and my journey in Plymouth, is an invitation to spread pink and joy everywhere you go.
Wear a pink tutu, embrace a splash of pink in your style, get a little bit playful with it! And while you’re at it, give ballet a try – there are so many ways to experience it, from a graceful ballet class to ballet street shows - you never know what amazing discovery might be waiting around the corner.
*Plymouth has been a dream! *
You know me – a touch of whimsy, a whole lotta pink, and a whole heart of love for life’s little delights! Until next time, darlings!
