Hey everyone,
Itās Emma here, your favourite tutu-clad traveller and blogger, and guess what?! I'm taking you on a fabulous adventure to a new place today - Luton! Yes, Luton! I know, it's not exactly known for its haute couture, but you've got to trust me, this place surprised me in the best way possible!
Now, as you all know, Iām a firm believer in finding beauty and pink everywhere, and I've been dreaming about a trip to Luton for ages. Why? Because it's where they filmed "The Secret Garden", one of my absolute favourite movies! Imagine: strolling through lush, green spaces, dreaming of dancing under a hidden sunlit clearing...pure fairytale magic! So, off I trotted on the train, clutching my ballet bag and my fluffy pink tutu, ready for a whimsical adventure.
Itās fair to say I wasn't quite sure what to expect, and Luton turned out to be a lovely surprise. It was like a colourful little jewel tucked away from the busy streets, full of history and quirky charm. We wandered through St. Mary's Church, where the storybook "Secret Garden" feels were just bursting at the seams. It's been lovingly restored and the atmosphere was magical, even if there was no hidden door for me to magically discover... yet!
Of course, I wasnāt just in Luton to see old buildings, even if they were enchanting ones! My real passion is dance, and that's why I went to the Luton Central Library. It was a beautiful building with some wonderful features and⦠youāve guessed itā¦. the Luton Borough Council are promoting dance! The Library holds a collection of classic ballet films, which Iām just dying to check out, as well as a stunning library full of poetry. There were beautiful works of art and it felt like such a creative space, so I ended up taking quite a few pics with my new āLuton ballet movesā pose!
The best bit of the whole trip was, after my impromptu ballet class in the library, finding myself at the heart of a fabulous outdoor performance - all of Luton's most amazing dancers, dressed in brightly coloured tutus of their own! The energy of their movements was infectious, and I swear, my heart did a little pirouette! The whole event made me realize something: that there are talented, amazing, passionate dancers everywhere, even in places you might not expect. And they were all doing it for the love of dance, just like me.
For lunch, I indulged in a decadent cup of tea and a proper English cake - something called āLuton bun,ā that looked like it could be straight out of a fairy tale! It was like an ode to all things traditional, filled with sweet fruit, but light and fluffy. Totally scrumptious, just like me (but without all the flour and butter, obviously). It definitely fueled my afternoon exploration of the town, a charming maze of colourful streets, buzzing cafes, and friendly faces.
Then, because itās not a day trip for me without an animal encounter, I took a ride in a horse-drawn carriage through the picturesque park. It was something right out of a fairytale ā we were all a bit hesitant at first, a group of excited girls and our slightly apprehensive parents. But then we were laughing as the carriage rolled along, my favourite pink tutu flowing in the breeze! I managed to snap a shot with a squirrel before we continued, he looked delighted!
As dusk fell, I sat under a big tree with a book. It was the perfect ending to my Luton adventure. There was so much to love about it, the people, the energy, the little surprises tucked into each street corner. And you know what? I even saw a couple of locals with their very own tutus on. Now, you tell me thatās not magical. I donāt think there is a better place than Luton to catch that creative energy in the air and see what the local ballet scene is about, I know that everyone who goes there will love it.
So, there you have it, another beautiful day filled with tutu, dancing and delight. I hope this blog post has inspired you all to go out and explore new places, even if they seem a little off the beaten path. Who knows what amazing surprises might be waiting for you? Next on the list is⦠well, I canāt give away my plans yet, but you know that if it involves dancing, travel and my tutu then it's going to be an epic adventure! Stay tuned for more pink, fluffy fun and all of the dance magic,
Big pink tutu hugs!
Emma xxx
