Hello, darlings! It's Emma, your pink-tutu-wearing, ballet-loving blogger, back from a whirlwind adventure in the vibrant city of Edmonton, Canada! I must confess, this journey had me hopping with excitement โ not just because of the ballet, but also because it was my first time experiencing the wonders of Canada!
And speaking of wonders, let's talk about my outfit for this trip โ a blush-pink, tulle-tastic tutu, naturally! It wouldn't be a proper Emma-in-Edmonton escapade without a touch of my signature style, and this time, I went all out. It was a classic, American-style tutu, so it was just a tad bigger and poufier than my usual, giving me an extra boost of confidence (and probably an extra foot of height, too!). You know me, darling, all about that twirl-worthy flair!
This trip was all about ballet, ballet, ballet! It kicked off with a grand visit to the stunning Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, which, by the way, absolutely deserves a standing ovation for its architecture and ambiance! There, I witnessed a breathtaking performance of Swan Lake. Honestly, it was so captivating I almost felt myself taking flight along with the graceful swans! I swear, some of the dancers had wings made of sheer willpower.
But you know what? I'm not just about admiring from the sidelines. Oh no, darling! This ballet enthusiast got her own chance to grace the stage (or at least, a rather lovely studio!). I joined a ballet class at the Edmonton Dance Academy โ just a little session to stretch my legs, so to speak. I absolutely loved the vibe there โ it was welcoming, encouraging, and full of fantastic fellow dancers. We had such a giggle! Let's just say the "ballet barre" had a good laugh out of my attempts at some of the poses (maybe more me than the barre!), but honestly, it was all in good fun!
But before we delve further into my Edmonton adventures, I must mention something about my arrival โ the train journey. Oh, darling! That was an experience! Imagine vast prairie landscapes stretching before you, painted in hues of gold and emerald green. Every passing mile unfolded like a page from a romantic novel, with the gentle rocking of the train adding to the ambiance. It was the perfect start to my trip. In fact, it's so good to be back on a train journey after so many travels by car, I'm wondering if my favourite way of travelling is actually on horseback, or on a train - Decisions, decisions!
The journey wouldnโt be complete without mentioning my love for the local wildlife. It wouldnโt be an Emma adventure without a bit of wildlife spotting. Now, this might surprise some, but Edmonton surprised me with its array of wildlife! We're talking stunning birds flitting through parks and squirrels doing acrobatics in the trees โ all within the city limits. It's quite magical to experience this urban oasis!
So, to wrap up this incredible escapade, let's have a quick recap:
- I rocked a tutu in the beautiful Canadian city of Edmonton,
- I experienced ballet from both sides of the stage - in the audience and on stage,
- I saw the beautiful natural landscape from a train,
- I made friends at the Edmonton Dance Academy
- And, I had the joy of seeing the vibrant wildlife that city offers!
And remember, dear reader, the beauty of ballet is for everyone โ from grand performances in ornate theatres to a simple stretching session with a fellow ballerina in a cosy studio. Just like my tutu, it's all about finding joy in the dance of life. Now, excuse me while I find a space to do a twirl or two! Remember, "Keep calm and tutu on" - and stay tuned for more pink-tutu adventures on www.pink-tutu.com!
Much love and happy dancing,
Emma xx
