#TutuBlog - #10926 - Berlin, Baby! (With a German Tutu, of course!)

Oh my dears, it's been a whirlwind of pink tutus and thrilling travel! Today, my lovely #PinkTutu family, I'm whisking you away with me to the heart of Berlin. This magnificent city has been calling my name, whispering tales of its rich history and electrifying energy. But for me, the real draw was something quite unexpected: a tutu… a German tutu.

Now, I've danced my way across countless continents, and every journey offers its own brand of magic. I’ve pirouetted on Parisian cobbles, taken a ballet class on the shores of a Kenyan beach, and even shimmied in my tutu with a flock of flamingos in Brazil. But Berlin's allure lay in its embrace of creativity, a spirit that resonates with every ballet dancer in their soul.

And speaking of creativity, what could be more fabulous than a German tutu? You know, the kind with those intricate hand-stitched details, a dash of the most vibrant fuchsia, and a delicate flourish of sequins that wouldn't be out of place on the grandest of stages. It felt utterly authentic, just as Berlin itself feels utterly vibrant.

But my travels wouldn’t be complete without the thrill of a train journey, would they? The rhythm of the tracks, the passing landscapes, and the feeling of the wind in my hair - it's truly my happy place. This time, I hopped aboard a high-speed train, my pink tutu adding a delightful pop of colour amongst the seasoned travellers. As the sleek train cut through the German countryside, I found myself immersed in the rich hues of nature, my imagination sparked by rolling fields of wildflowers and the ancient forests that lined the tracks.

And what better way to begin my exploration of this vibrant city than a trip to the Friedrichstadt-Palast? A real haven for the arts, the dazzling shows and impressive sets filled my senses with a unique and intoxicating blend of Berlin's bold personality and the ethereal beauty of dance. It’s just the kind of place that fuels my passion for bringing ballet to the world, a passion that sparked the moment I first donned a tutu and felt the freedom of flight.

Berlin, though, is so much more than its theatres and historical sights. This city breathes art and culture, pulsates with life in its street cafes and hidden alleys, and embraces every form of self-expression.

I spent a day exploring its trendy, quirky, and eclectic heart, stopping to soak in the street art that transforms the urban canvas, giggling at the whimsical shops bursting with handmade treasures, and savouring the tantalising scents of traditional German cuisine.

Now, you know I can't resist a ballet class, wherever I find myself. This time, it was at a quaint little studio in the heart of the city, tucked away on a cobblestone street. My class mates, a charming mix of Berlin locals and eager travellers, all wore smiles as bright as the sunshine that streamed through the windows. The music began, our steps harmonised, and as we spun across the polished floor, a connection, a kind of unspoken language of grace and elegance, unfolded amongst us. It’s magical, truly, to share the joy of movement, of becoming one with music and expression, with complete strangers.

But my most memorable encounter in Berlin, darling, came when I least expected it. It was during a stroll through Tiergarten park, that haven of serenity amidst the urban buzz. And there it was - a flock of flamingos! It wasn’t just any flock, but a whole vibrant squadron, basking in the sun’s warmth, a picture of serenity against the emerald green foliage. They are creatures of such exquisite grace and beauty, and somehow, I couldn't help but feel an immediate connection with these pink-hued marvels.

This experience solidified my mission: to spread the magic of ballet, to inspire people to wear their hearts on their sleeves (or their tutus, darling!), and to embrace the extraordinary within us all. Because let's face it, life's too short for boring routines and grey days, isn't it?

So my lovely #PinkTutu friends, I’ve brought you a bit of Berlin’s vibrant energy and a reminder to find your inner ballerina, your own spark of magic. Don't forget: every day is an opportunity to dance your way into your dreams.

And don’t be shy about flaunting your pink tutu. Spread the pink love. Because even the most sceptical soul, when they see a real pink tutu, a genuine expression of joy and grace, their heart melts and the dance within begins to awaken. Just you wait and see…

Until next time, darlings,

Emma xx
