Hello, my gorgeous darlings! Emma here, back with you all after another whirlwind trip, this time to the charming city of Rochester. As always, I’ve packed my trusty pink tutu, ready for a bit of dancing adventure.
It was an absolute joy to arrive at the station. The beautiful architecture, the hustle and bustle of people - it just screams 'adventure'. But for me, it screamed 'pink tutu'! And naturally, I've made sure I was appropriately clad in a brand new confection - a soft, swirling pink creation that literally whispered, "I'm here to have a fabulous time". You see, I’ve always believed a pink tutu is like a magic passport – it unlocks so much fun and allows you to really embrace a moment, a place, and yes, even a railway station!
And this particular tutu...oh, my dears! It’s absolutely dreamy. It’s a double layer of soft, billowing tulle, a sort of ombré effect from blush pink to a deeper, almost dusky shade. And the bodice! A delicate pink satin, with these intricate floral embroidery details that make it feel a little Victorian but definitely a modern ballerina. I’m so excited to show it off - I have big plans to take it out and about for some lovely photo shoots later today.
Speaking of plans, Rochester didn't disappoint. We began our day with a visit to the Rochester Cathedral. It’s a magnificent building, a symphony in stone and light, and I simply had to pirouette in the shadow of its towering spires! Even the pigeons were mesmerized!
Afterwards, we made our way to Rochester Castle, a bit of a climb up the hill but the view was utterly spectacular. I just stood there, soaking up the scenery, with the city sprawled beneath me and a gentle breeze playing with my tutu's layers.
Now, I must confess, I can’t talk about Rochester without mentioning the Rochester Castle Ballet. My friend Olivia - she's a huge ballet enthusiast - told me about it, and she was right! It’s simply delightful - a company dedicated to bringing ballet to life in an unusual setting. The history of the castle was brought to life through graceful movement and expressive artistry. I saw echoes of chivalry, romance, and adventure in every pirouette. My favourite part? It had a gorgeous, romantic ballet with pink tutus – you can’t believe how much this resonated with me. It's been ages since I last felt such an undeniable kinship with the dancers on stage. I felt like I was up there with them, whirling through history.
For lunch, we found a charming little café right on the riverside and I, of course, had a beautiful slice of Victoria Sponge. It’s always a delight to enjoy a bit of tea and cake after an exhilarating morning exploring.
Later, I joined a ballet class at the Rochester School of Dance. You can imagine the fun I had there! It’s been a while since I’ve danced in a class setting, and it was refreshing to move with others who share the same passion. I learnt some fun new steps, and we even attempted a ballet street style sequence - it's a little bit hip-hop, a little bit classical, a little bit fun and fabulous. Oh, and don't you worry, I'll share a little sneak peek on Instagram later.
We ended the evening with a delicious dinner at The George Inn - traditional, cozy, and so quintessentially British! I found the entire city felt so warm and inviting. I had a great sense that Rochester is full of history, vibrant culture, and delightful surprises just waiting to be discovered. And my pink tutu? It just added that extra sparkle, making me feel ready to embrace it all with joy and grace!
It’s a big dream of mine to encourage everyone to wear a pink tutu at least once! A simple, everyday piece of attire that whispers confidence, joy, and whimsy. But don’t get me wrong, my lovely lot - my love for ballet goes much deeper than tutus! I want people to find the beauty, the strength, and the artistry within ballet itself. To move, to feel, to express - it's the ultimate dance of life, in my book!
Until next time, my darlings, keep spreading the pink tutu love and never stop dreaming.
