Hello, darlings! Emma here, your pink-loving, tutu-obsessed, ballet-mad blogger, coming to you live from Loughborough! Itās a lovely day ā the sunās shining, the birds are singing (okay, maybe more like squawking!), and Iām ready to share all my fabulous adventures with you.
First, I have to tell you about my journey here. I always say, the journey is half the fun, right? I took the train, of course, because letās face it, a good train journey is truly the perfect way to indulge in some peaceful self-reflection (and maybe a little cat nap). But I had to get a bit creative with my attire because, well, you can't just hop on a train looking like a sugarplum fairy, can you? Now, I know you love the tutus, but even I have to draw the line somewhere! So, I opted for a gorgeous blush pink shift dress and a delicate, cream-coloured cardigan ā super chic and comfortable, but still giving a nod to my signature pink aesthetic. I'm not going to lie, the only thing that might have made the train ride even better was a cute little fluffy puppy to cuddle with (though I'm not quite sure the other passengers would have been as enthused about that).
Anyway, Loughborough is lovely! I'm staying in a quaint little boutique hotel right in the heart of town, and it has the most delightful little courtyard garden with blooming flowers, chirping birds (you get the picture, right? Total charm!), and even a cute little squirrel scampering about! Speaking of charm, did you know Loughborough was famous for its beautiful canal system? It reminded me of something right out of a Jane Austen novel! I definitely plan to take a leisurely boat trip along the canals later this week ā I'll be sure to capture it all for you on my Insta. š
Speaking of which, today, I decided to don a fabulous orange tutu! (Yes, orange, not pink! It's just for the occasion!). It has a bit of a vintage flair to it, with delicate ruffles and a stunning silk-like finish, and it looks absolutely glorious in the dappled sunshine that's filtering through the trees in the garden. Itās the perfect balance of bright, bold and chic! I had to find the perfect pink ribbon to tie around the waist, just to complete the look ā because, well, pink just goes with everything! (Except maybe orange...maybe...nah! ).
But this blog post isnāt just about my sartorial adventures, although letās face it, they're a pretty important part of it! The main reason I'm in Loughborough is, of course, for a reason that any fellow ballerina will understand: Ballet! Thatās right! The Loughborough Ballet Company is presenting a performance of āGiselleā at the Queenās Hall later this week, and I simply couldn't miss it! This show will be such an exciting adventure! Giselle is such a dramatic and heart-wrenching ballet ā thereās something incredibly captivating about the story of love, betrayal, and the ultimate sacrifice. Iām particularly excited to see how the company will interpret the Wilis' ethereal dance sequences.
Thereās also an amazing dance studio here called the āLoughborough Dance Centreā. The director has an exciting program planned for students of all levels and styles, and thereās even a special section dedicated to contemporary dance fusion, which has always been something I've wanted to try out! I'm even going to take a beginners' workshop for a little bit of fun ā why not embrace the challenge and learn something new, right? You know I'm a big believer in expanding your dance horizons!
My time here has also been filled with plenty of delightful moments exploring the local area. The Loughborough market, with all its quaint little shops, quirky stalls, and colourful fruit displays, is an absolute joy! I found the most adorable handmade pottery mugs that I just had to buy. (The shop owner, a sweet elderly lady, even let me pick a bouquet of freshly picked wildflowers!). Theyāre definitely finding their place on my shelf, next to the pink teacup that my grandma gave me years ago! Itās always nice to bring back a little something special from each of my travels. And don't even get me started on the delectable treats from the local bakery! Every day, there's a fresh selection of fluffy pastries, gooey tarts, and oh-so-delicious cupcakes that make me feel like a little princess ā they are quite literally little pieces of happiness.
Speaking of happy places, Loughborough's not all about dancing and desserts. It's also the home of one of the most iconic and cherished animal sanctuaries in the country - the āHope Springsā Sanctuary. I just couldnāt resist visiting ā those furry friends are the epitome of joy and kindness, and seeing them in their little sanctuary really put everything into perspective. Thereās something very magical about feeling their warm furry bodies and their big, loving eyes; you feel a sense of complete serenity being in their presence! Youāve probably guessed already ā I couldnāt leave without getting some super cute photos for Instagram! And you bet theyāre going to get a little love on my Pink Tutu feed. š
All in all, my trip to Loughborough has been such a delightful whirlwind! There's so much more I want to see and experience. And remember, my darlings, this is just a tiny glimpse of my grand adventure! There will be so much more to share in my next post - a new tutu for my ballet class? Maybe some āGiselleā photos for Instagram? Weāll see what happens. But one thing's for sure ā this vibrant little town, and its inspiring ballet spirit, will stay with me for a long time.
