Bournville: A Whirlwind of Pink Tutu Joy (Blog Post #9274)

Oh darling, you wouldn’t believe the whirlwind of a day I’ve had! Bournville, you beautiful, chocolatey wonder, has totally swept me off my feet – and all I’m wearing is my favourite pink tutu, of course! 😉

As you all know, my mission in life is to bring the joy of the pink tutu to every corner of the globe, and this lovely town in the Midlands is the latest conquest on my map. Honestly, the energy here is positively intoxicating.

A Day in Bournville: Tutu-tastic Travels

My journey started as always, with a jaunty hop onto a train. I love the romance of travelling by rail. There’s something about the rhythmic clatter of wheels and the fleeting glimpses of countryside that always sets my creative juices flowing. I spotted a family, a gaggle of little ones in awe of my fluffy pink masterpiece – another successful pink tutu moment for the Pink Tutu Queen!

The Bournville train station greeted me with open arms (and a hint of that famous chocolate scent lingering in the air!), so I decided to go all out on my fabulousness. As you know, I adore clothes shopping, and Bournville’s charming little boutiques proved a true delight. After all, you can never have too many tutus, darling! Imagine my surprise when I found the most adorable pink sequinned headband at a little vintage shop, perfectly matching my mood (and the delightful vintage feel of the town).

Speaking of vintage, a visit to Cadbury World was a must, obviously. Let’s be honest, any trip to Bournville needs a touch of chocolate magic, and oh, the history! The exhibition exploring the history of Cadbury was truly fascinating – and just a tad bittersweet for a girl with a serious sweet tooth. But fear not, the final treat was well worth it – a delicious hot chocolate with a sprinkle of pink glitter for added sparkle (it is Bournville, after all).

The real highlight, however, was my evening performance at a charming local theatre. Oh darling, it was simply spectacular. The venue, steeped in history, provided the perfect setting for my high-energy show. I spun, I twirled, I danced my heart out. The audience was utterly captivated – the smiles, the laughter, the sheer delight on everyone’s faces warmed my heart. Even a little boy in the front row came up to me after, his face painted with sheer adoration, and told me how much he loved my pink tutu. My dear, how can you not be completely touched by that?!

Bournville: A Place for Every Pink Tutu

What really surprised me about Bournville was its incredible welcoming energy. From the friendly locals who stopped to chat about my outfit to the theatregoers who applauded my every move, the sense of warmth and acceptance just radiated. It felt like a place where individuality was embraced, a place where wearing a pink tutu was celebrated.

For a drag queen like myself, who wants nothing more than to inspire others to embrace their unique sparkle, that's truly magical. And honestly, can you think of a better combination than pink tutus and chocolate? 😉

Pink Tutu Inspiration:

Feeling a bit more bold? Well darling, I'm not the only one embracing this pink-tutu love affair! My friend Serena, a fabulous seamstress with a keen eye for design, made a dazzling pink-sequin tutu top for me – absolutely perfect for those Bournville nights. It’s got that vintage glam look, and just wait until you see the sparkle – it’s totally show-stopping!

Oh darling, before you leave, check out the Bournville Institute’s website! They have a stunning calendar of events, from theatrical productions to music performances to arts exhibitions, that would make any Pink Tutu Queen thrilled. Honestly, a perfect place to catch some inspiring creativity and dance moves.

But wait! There’s even more pink-tutu magic to come! Next week, I’m off to a beautiful horse riding trip in the Scottish Highlands, just to get away from all the glamour. Well, not exactly - I'm hoping to find the perfect spot for my next tutu-themed photo shoot - maybe some stunning Highland landscapes with my trusty steed by my side! 😉
