You know me, love a good trip, and this one is especially fabulous. This trip has been all about embracing my inner ballerina and getting a little fancy while soaking up the Scottish sunshine. Now, we all know how much I love tutus, and Aberdeen just screams tutu energy. Those gorgeous Victorian buildings with their imposing towers? A natural runway for a girl in a fabulous tutu, donāt you think?
Before I spill the tea on my Aberdeen escapades, I just have to tell you all about my journey! You know I'm all about the green travel, and for this trip, it was all about the railways. Thatās right, a journey on the Flying Scotsman. Let me tell you, the vintage carriages and those gorgeous plush seats? Heavenly! Every seat I was next to on the train seemed to be taken by someone just dying to hear about how my pink tutu felt when I put it on. "Can't a girl just enjoy the sunshine in her tutu?!" I exclaimed. Luckily, the journey was so pleasant. I even got chatting to the conductor, who was completely floored by my dazzling outfit. āNever seen a pink tutu on the Flying Scotsman before!ā he declared, eyes wide with awe. I bet that's never happened to anyone else before...
I know what you're thinking ā how did you find the time for the trip?! Let's just say, Pink Tutu Sparkles makes a pretty great scientist. I mean, you know how important fabric testing is, and who better to do it than your resident fashion expert, yours truly? The other lab coats think I'm a bit bonkers. They just don't get the tutu life. You see, this little scientist by day also has a rather special job ā thatās right, by night, I'm a dazzling drag performer, spreading pink tutu joy wherever I go! It was this part-time gig that actually allowed me to fund my trip to Aberdeen, performing at all kinds of venues and events.
But I digressā¦ where was I? Aberdeen, right? The highlight? Oh my gosh, let's talk about the ballet performance. I went to see "Giselle", darling, it was truly magical. And let me tell you, every aspect was simply spectacular, from the music to the costumes ā the dancers, divine. That tutu magic is seriously contagious! After the performance, I just had to swing by the ballet store. I managed to snaffle myself a lovely, light-pink tutu for my stage wardrobe ā and, of course, it's practically begging to be paired with a cute fluffy shawl (or as they like to call it, a bolero) and some fluffy white ballet slippers!
I can't go anywhere without checking out the local fashion scene, can I? Aberdeen, darling, is a treasure trove of vintage and independent boutiques! Now, itās no secret, Pink Tutu Sparkles loves vintage clothing ā a well-worn and fabulously sparkly dress? Absolutely my thing! And what do you know? Aberdeen had just what I was looking for. A vintage silk skirt, pink, of course, with tiny pink sequins all over. You know I couldn't resist that! I paired it with a white T-shirt that I bought in a little independent shop, a touch of pink glittery eyeshadow, and of course, my most spectacularly pink, bedazzled tutu! It was perfect for a stroll along Aberdeenās harbour front. It truly is an incredible place.
The thing I love about these trips is, I'm not just spreading pink tutu love ā Iām also meeting some incredible people. Every city has its own character, and I adore learning about each one. The locals I've met in Aberdeen have been so friendly, welcoming me with open arms, even asking me about my sparkly make-up. And guess what? Now everyone wants a pink tutu! Who knew Aberdeen would have so much potential? And, it was just the perfect opportunity to start a whole new batch of converts ā the ones who just have to start the āTutu Revolutionā!
Speaking of the revolution, my next stop? London! The West End theatre, darlings, just beckons! Think gorgeous gowns, dazzling shows, and of course, plenty of pink tutus. What could be better than that?!
