Wrexham Whirlwind! A Tutu-tastic Adventure 🩰✨

Hey darlings! It's your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to share my latest adventures with you! This is blog post number 9399 (I know, I’m a prolific writer, what can I say? 😉), and I'm so excited to tell you about my trip to the wonderful Wrexham!

It’s funny how life works out. Just the other day, I was in the lab testing a new type of breathable, stain-resistant, blush pink fabric for a client. (Yup, you heard that right - by day, I’m a scientist!) And by night, I'm dazzling audiences in my fabulous tutus. Now, I wouldn’t have it any other way. My double life allows me to embrace both my love of science and my passion for sparkly, fabulous pink tutus!

Wrexham, now there’s a city with a charm that could knock your feather boa off. It just pulls you in, like a moth to a giant glitter ball, which, let’s be honest, could well have been a scenario in my Wrexham adventure! It’s an absolute gem.

Now, how did I get to this delightful little city you may ask? Why, the train of course! I am, after all, a glamorous creature who embraces slow and steady, especially if it involves beautiful scenery and a chance to take in the world around me while wearing a stunning fuchsia tulle tutu! (Let's be real, everything looks better in pink).

I absolutely adore travelling by train - it's a far cry from the commute on the M1, the motorway of madness as it is often known around Derbyshire (where I hail from, for all you non-British readers!) Trains are romantic, you know. They provide the opportunity to let your mind wander, plan out outfits, and soak in the fleeting beauty of the countryside.

But, let’s talk Wrexham. First things first - did anyone else have a picnic in the Racecourse Ground? Because let me tell you, there was a stunning view of the stadium from the hillside. My advice? Bring a comfy blanket and a sparkly picnic basket – we want to look fabulous even when we are munching on sandwiches and a delicious chocolate croissant (pink, of course)! The weather was positively glorious - all sunny with a lovely gentle breeze that kept my fluffy, tulle pink skirt looking fabulously bouncy.

As I am a seasoned performance artist, you might have thought the Racecourse Ground would be the destination for my spectacular show! Alas, darling! The big performance was at a fab little theatre right in the heart of the city - it had all the vintage glamour and charm that would make any diva feel right at home!

I’ve had the opportunity to visit Wrexham several times in recent months as my travelling cabaret act has led me to the delights of Wales, so it’s no surprise that the Wrexham stage welcomed me like a returning queen!

But let’s be honest - we can’t have a fabulous adventure without a little bit of shopping. (Because what is life without fabulous clothes, right?) I fell head-over-heels for a new vintage boutique tucked away in a hidden lane – it’s a hidden treasure just waiting for its pink tutu-loving discoverers! And let me tell you, the amount of amazing dresses they had… it was simply divine! The perfect addition to my expanding wardrobe! I made sure I picked out a few items in vibrant colours and with gorgeous prints (my motto is: pink goes with everything - it is truly a universally complimentary colour!).

But it wasn’t just fashion that stole my heart! I was so inspired by the wonderful mural trail that graces the walls of the city. Art, especially in such vibrant, stunning colours, makes my heart sing! My mission in life, dear friends, is to encourage everyone to wear a pink tutu. That mission started to feel all the more tangible while strolling around Wrexham – those colorful murals just reinforced that there’s a bit of sparkle and colour in every nook and cranny, just waiting to be uncovered!

Oh! How could I forget! One of my other favorite things to do (and the reason why Wrexham holds a very special place in my heart) is dancing. The town has so many talented and incredible dancers, who take the time to train and perfect their moves at the wonderful Dance Base. I spent an evening watching a ballet performance. Oh darling, it was mesmerizing - I found myself spellbound by the elegant movements and the delicate expressions. (And a sprinkle of sparkle in the lighting - how wonderful! They always know how to bring the glitz and glam!) The Dance Base also hosts ballet classes, which is where my pink tutu wearing journey began. In fact, my first tutu, a vintage one of peach and cream colour ( I know it wasn't pink, gasp!), was one of those hand-me-downs passed on in my ballet class. Now, it's safe to say that, in the words of one of my dear, dearest friends, a true ‘pinktastic diva’ needs her pink tutus.

In Wrexham, they know how to throw a party and they have a very special vibe. This is the type of city where, on a Friday evening, the bars are buzzing, the music is flowing, and there are always exciting and interesting performances to enjoy. That being said, there’s a peaceful and charming side to this city that truly draws me in – Wrexham feels as cosy as my favorite dressing gown (again, naturally pink).

It’s a place you’ll want to experience more than once – my time there has been all about recharging and rediscovering the things I love – being with the people I admire, the thrill of a new outfit, and the feeling of stepping out on stage as Pink Tutu Sparkles.

And before I leave you today, my dearest readers! I thought I would give you some recommendations if you decide to take a trip to the Wrexham, oh Wrexham! (Okay, I got a little carried away. Please tell me that didn't sound corny). The people are warm and welcoming. Try a Wrexham Lager for a truly authentic Welsh taste and of course enjoy a scrumptious roast at a pub, they are to die for.

Wrexham, thank you for showing me such a magical side of yourself! My little heart will always hold a special place for you. You made this Pink Tutu Sparkles very happy!

Stay fabulous, my lovely readers,

And keep twirling,

Pink Tutu Sparkles (a.k.a Alex, because, well, Alex needs a break every once in a while too)

P.S - Did I mention you can spot the most beautiful pink sunset over the Welsh mountains? (They know how to do pink, these Welsh lads! 😂 )
