And what a December it's been so far, with all the twirling, sequins, and festive cheer. Speaking of cheer, darling, this Pink Tutu Queen is bursting with excitement about my trip to Borehamwood! Yes, that's right, I've packed my pinkest tutu and glittery makeup for a trip to the land of film and theatre!
Let me tell you, it's all a little bit extra this week. Just the way I like it! Now, normally, you'd find me shimmying onto stage in a railway station, or trotting alongside a fine, gentle steed, (trust me, those horses are just as enamoured with tutus as I am!). But this time, I'm all about the urban glamour of Borehamwood. They’ve got that iconic, retro movie studio vibe and I’m ready to soak it all in. And who knows, maybe I'll even get my pink tutu featured in a blockbuster!
For a week I'm channeling my inner ballerina, blending the sparkle of my Pink Tutu Sparkles persona with the elegant, yet mischievous, spirit of Borehamwood. After all, I've always believed that even a science lab could use a bit more pink sparkle, darling. Don't you think?
Flashback to My Tutu Epiphany
Before I get into the pink-tastic shenanigans of Borehamwood, allow me to whisk you back to my Derbyshire roots. It was back in uni, studying my science degree. Now, you might think science and sequins don't mix, but I assure you, dear reader, that was before I discovered my destiny in the form of a fluffy, pink tutu.
Picture this: Our uni was doing a charity fundraising thing and, bless their hearts, decided a fancy dress ball would be just the ticket. Being a good student (okay, I admit it was more out of peer pressure), I ventured into a dusty box of costume items. I'm not exaggerating, I almost tripped over my own sensible flats when I spotted IT - the most divine pink tutu, sparkling with more glitter than a disco ball after a rave! And then it hit me - the overwhelming urge to twirl. Not just any twirl, mind you. The full-on, theatrical, gravity-defying twirls of my dreams!
In that very instant, darling, I knew my calling! Pink Tutu Sparkles, the glamorous, ever-so-slightly-kooky drag queen with a serious soft spot for pink tutus and twirls was born. It felt so right, so pink-tastic! Even the science lab started to look less, well, drab with that vibrant, shimmering tutu bouncing around my imagination.

And so, I, Pink Tutu Sparkles, ended up in Borehamwood! My dear friend, Fiona, who’s also a big ballet enthusiast, suggested this place for my next performance. “You have to see this town,” she declared, eyes shining like a thousand tiny twinkly lights, “It’s literally built around studios. Think stage sets, costume rooms, maybe a few celebrities and who knows - even some glitter dust lingering from past sets.” Fiona loves to find unusual places that fit her drag alter-ego’s theatrical mood - she always helps me discover my next fun stop.
Of course, with Borehamwood, there's an obvious, very exciting reason to choose this little gem for a Pink Tutu Sparkle adventure. I'm on the lookout for pink inspiration - after all, who doesn't need a fresh infusion of the vibrant pink-tastic life-affirming color?
I can already see myself doing a choreographed sequence across a vintage set, maybe a glamorous tap number outside a costume shop, or, of course, I have to stop by a shop specializing in tutus. Oh, to have all these fabulous fabrics around me - it would make for some amazing #PinkTutuOOTD (Outfit Of The Day) posts!
And if all goes to plan, maybe I'll even recruit a few willing Borehamwood locals to join me in a grand, pink-tastic, community ballet. Because my darlings, spreading the gospel of tutus, especially the pink ones, is something that needs to be experienced firsthand!

A special pink tutu travel outfit. This one's for traveling, as I can’t wear a regular tutu while I’m whizzing through the countryside on a train, can I? A perfect pairing - my bright pink tulle skirt, an embroidered blouse, pink knee-high boots and a pink knitted cardigan (to keep the wind out, darling) makes a statement wherever I go.
