Hey darlings, it’s your Pink Tutu Sparkles here, back with a brand new blog post! Today we’re headed north, all the way to Walkden, for a proper tutu-tastic adventure. And trust me, this one is all about the glitz, the glamour, and of course, loads of pink tutus.
This is blog post number 9484, and if you've been following my adventures on www.pink-tutu.com for a while, you know how much I love travelling. I’m a bit of a train enthusiast, honestly, there's just something magical about chugging along the countryside with a book in one hand and a glass of something sparkly in the other. 🥂 This time, however, the train journey was extra special. You see, I had a surprise in store: I was taking the journey on horseback! Yes, that’s right, darlings! My dear friend Henrietta has a beautiful chestnut mare named Duchess, and she offered to let me ride her to Walkden. Talk about making an entrance! 🐎
The journey itself was just dreamy. Imagine this: the sun shining, Duchess’s hooves clicking along the cobblestone roads, a gentle breeze carrying the sweet scent of wildflowers... and me, in my glorious pink tutu, of course! ✨
When I finally arrived in Walkden, I was absolutely mesmerized. This charming little town is teeming with history and character, and there are beautiful buildings all around. The town centre, with its quaint little shops and cafes, had a real sense of community. There's a market hall that is just a kaleidoscope of colours and smells. I bought some adorable pink fluffy bunny ear headbands, perfect for adding that extra touch of sweetness to my tutu outfit. 🐰💖
The real reason I came to Walkden, however, was the ballet. You know me, darlings, a little ballet goes a long way. It's like a dream for the eyes and the heart, and it just radiates elegance and joy. The local ballet school had organised a grand performance of Swan Lake, and I just had to be there.
The venue was a traditional theatre, with plush velvet seats and a grand chandelier dripping with crystal. I even spotted a few lovely Victorian ladies wearing elegant opera glasses. It's not often you find such an authentic setting nowadays. The ballerinas danced like pure magic. Their graceful movements were just hypnotic. The costumes, though, that’s where I lost my heart! Absolutely stunning! I can only imagine how much work and artistry goes into each of those costumes. 🦢👑 They really inspired me to do something extraordinary with my own next performance, but that's a story for another day!
I wasn’t just there to admire, darlings. Oh no! Pink Tutu Sparkles always joins in, you know! It turned out the ballet school had organised a tutu-making workshop as part of the celebrations, and I was so thrilled to be part of it! We had all the materials - sequins, lace, feathers, oh, the sparkle was just fantastic! - and some real artistic vision! My creation? Well, let’s just say it involved a pink fluffy tutu, adorned with iridescent sequins and a whole lotta sparkle. It’s going to be absolutely show-stopping. 🩰🤩
As the evening went on, Walkden seemed to transform! All the cafes and bars bustled with activity, the lights twinkled from the windows of charming homes, and you could just feel the energy in the air. I decided to end my adventure with a spot of dinner and a little bit of magic, which Walkden provided in abundance! There's a delightful little restaurant called 'The Enchanted Cupboard', which had the most amazing, quirky menu you could ever imagine. Think sparkling pink unicorn cake with edible rainbows! The décor is enchanting, with every surface covered in twinkling lights and fairy tales. Perfect for a queen like myself! 💖🦄✨

This whole Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure began at uni! I was a bright-eyed science student (and secretly, I'm still a bit of a science geek) when I found myself in the university ballet club. There was this fundraiser event, and I just had to try on one of the tutus... and that, darlings, was it! It was like the universe was giving me a sign.
Since then, I’ve combined my two worlds - science and performance - and found this incredibly fulfilling way to connect with the world. I fund my adventures as a drag artist, performing anywhere I can: at pubs, at village fetes, even at county fairs!
