Today, I'm bursting with excitement because I've landed in the charming town of Ecclesfield, and I can already feel the magic bubbling up!
Ecclesfield is nestled right in the heart of South Yorkshire, just a short hop from Sheffield. If you know me, you know that I absolutely adore exploring all corners of the British Isles. Whether I'm hopping on a train or hitching a ride on a trusty steed (horses are my other passion!), I always relish the chance to discover hidden gems and soak up the local vibe.
But before we dive into all the fun Ecclesfield has in store, let's rewind for a moment and hear all about my journey here. 🚂 My dear readers, you'll never believe this - my arrival was a straight-up theatrical production! Imagine it, a majestic steam train chugging through the countryside, sunbeams sparkling off the windows. The carriage was crammed with a fabulous bunch of locals, everyone chatting away with that classic British wit and cheer. I could feel a warmth spreading throughout the carriage, like we were all in on a grand adventure together.
And what's more fitting than a dramatic train arrival? It was, of course, my trusty pink tutu and sparkly feather boa, bringing a splash of glamour to the otherwise mundane commute. It was a glorious moment, and as I sashayed down the platform, the platform buzzed with anticipation. The smiles, the laughter, and even a few bewildered faces told me I'd made a grand entrance - just how I like it!
So, here I am in Ecclesfield, ready to soak up every minute of my time in this enchanting town. Now, my lovely readers, it's time for a confession. 🤫 I've got a little secret… I've been dying to see Ecclesfield ever since I was a young sprout. Growing up in Derbyshire, surrounded by beautiful countryside and a rich cultural tapestry, Ecclesfield was the kind of place that seemed like a magical secret whispered in the wind. Now, as I stand in the heart of the town, the reality surpasses any dreams I ever had!
Now, where to begin! 🤯 Let's take a little stroll through the charming streets, past quaint shops and houses adorned with window boxes overflowing with vibrant blooms. The air is sweet with the scent of freshly baked bread, and the locals are friendly and welcoming, quick with a warm hello and a smile. I already feel right at home.
Ecclesfield boasts a vibrant cultural scene. The town is home to the Ecclesfield Arts Theatre, a small, intimate venue brimming with talent. I just love discovering local talent, and this little theater seemed to have something exciting on every week! Just yesterday I popped in for a rousing performance by the local am-dram group, "The Ecclesfield Players", they were performing "Annie" I must confess it was an absolute hoot! Just imagining those cute little orphans singing about "Tomorrow" with their "sun will come up tomorrow" song, while dressed in the cutest little raggedy clothes.. I tell you, my dear readers, it really set me back to my childhood.
Speaking of culture, it's been ages since I treated myself to a ballet performance, so Ecclesfield's little gem "The Royal Ecclesfield Theatre "was calling me. I went for a rousing "Sleeping Beauty" , all my fave fairytale characters - fairies, evil queens and of course a very, very long sleep! It was simply divine, the dancers were breathtaking! Even got a sneaky snap of me next to the iconic stage curtain...just me and Princess Aurora. 🩰👑
One thing I adore about Ecclesfield is that it truly feels like a place with a story, filled with quirky little details that make it so unique. We found the quaintest café nestled in a hidden corner, a sweet little shop called "The Sugarplum," offering the most delightful pastries and cupcakes. You can't possibly visit Ecclesfield without treating yourself! And the best part, my lovelies? The owner was the most fantastic woman I've met in ages, a veritable queen of the kitchen in her own right. She was completely overjoyed when she heard about my mission to get everyone wearing pink tutus, and she offered to make me my very own "Pink Tutu" cupcake, topped with a fondant ballerina in a glittery tutu. It was like a sweet masterpiece! It was the most gorgeous cake I've ever seen - you know I just had to share it on Insta. You can see it right on @PinkTutuSparkles.
The sun is beginning to set now, painting the sky with glorious hues of orange and pink. And it just makes me feel so happy, Ecclesfield really is an inspiration! From the quaint village squares to the warm-hearted people, everything about this place makes you feel happy, and alive. This is what it's all about, my lovelies. It's not just about pretty places, it's about experiencing life to the full and sharing the beauty with everyone around you. It's about the little things, the details that make a place special. And Ecclesfield has it all.
Before I close this post I have to let you know that I discovered the best-kept secret of Ecclesfield - the "Tutu Trail." This is an absolute gem, my lovelies. A walking route around the town with clues scattered along the way which, if solved, reveal the location of hidden "Pink Tutu" boxes containing a delightful little pink surprise. Just how much did this little village understand my mission to spread the joy of pink tutus!
So, my darlings, I can’t leave Ecclesfield without leaving a little bit of myself behind, just a sparkle of Pink Tutu Sparkles magic! It was the perfect location for my pink tutu parade in the Ecclesfield Village Square. A few dozen locals had the pleasure of joining me - a bunch of local toddlers and grandmothers even, the younger ones loved their new little pink tulle and sequined tutus and the elder women couldn't get enough of the fun. This really is the beauty of tutus they're for everyone and I felt it right there in Ecclesfield.
