Oh my gosh, you wouldn't believe the adventures this little sparkly has been up to lately! I've been buzzing about this trip for weeks, because I've heard such lovely things about Dover. Everyone says it's a right proper seaside town, with stunning white cliffs and gorgeous views across the channel, and I just knew I had to check it out.
As you know, I'm a girl who loves her travel in style! This time around, I couldn't resist the call of the railway line - the steam engine on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway is simply too iconic! We whizzed through the Kent countryside, past rolling green fields and quaint little villages, while I giggled with my troupe of fellow sparkly friends.
Of course, no journey is complete without a proper fashion fix! I couldn't leave Derby without stocking up on my favourite shades of pink from the fabulous boutiques on the high street. Let me tell you, a new pair of sparkly pink shoes is a must for a queen like me!
Now, my trip to Dover wouldn't be complete without some culture, darlings! First on my agenda was the Dover Museum. You wouldn't believe it, but it was stuffed with all sorts of amazing exhibits. Roman treasures, medieval weaponry, and even the story of Dover's secret wartime tunnels! They had a brilliant display on the White Cliffs, which made me all the more excited to see them for myself. You know me, I love to learn about history.
The next day was a right old whirlwind of colour and excitement! You see, I'm a huge fan of dance, and I just had to take a class at the Dover Ballet School. Now, I've always thought ballet shoes were a bit serious for my usual style, but honestly, the class was absolutely brilliant! These little angels at the ballet school were absolutely smashing it - pure joy to watch. And you wouldn't believe it, but one of the mums actually did try on a pink tutu for the occasion. Let's just say, it's inspired me to make my very own pink tutu ballet outfit!
Oh, but there was something else I absolutely had to do, a quintessential Dover experience! I spent the entire morning just staring out over the White Cliffs from Dover Castle. They were just as majestic as everyone said, and they offered the most incredible views of the English Channel. Honestly, they made me feel like I was right at the edge of the world!
Of course, I couldn't resist popping into Dover’s shops. I ended up with the most beautiful hand-painted china mug from the local market, adorned with delicate seabirds and sparkling waves. That’s definitely going to take pride of place in my studio back home in Derbyshire.
As the sun started to set over the channel, my friends and I took a little detour to the Dover Western Docks, the busiest port in the UK. It was absolutely magical seeing all those ships coming and going - so full of excitement! It made me feel quite patriotic, to be honest. I even spotted a ferry about to set sail for Calais. I have a funny feeling that's where Pink Tutu Sparkles will be going next... stay tuned for a whirlwind adventure across the English Channel!
You know, this trip really made me realize something about Dover: it's a place full of both ancient history and buzzing life, perfect for any Queen. And while my mission is to spread the magic of the pink tutu across the world, Dover, with its magnificent views, its historical stories and its unique charm, will be a memory that I’ll treasure forever. A Little More About Pink Tutu Sparkles (And Alex!)You might be thinking, "Wait, a pink tutu-loving queen? Where did that come from?" Well, you see, it all started in the lab.
It’s a long story, but back when I was studying science at uni in Derbyshire, I stumbled upon a magical place. The University Ballet Club! Yes, you read that right. I traded my lab coat for a leotard, swapped experiments for pas de bourrée, and embraced the world of ballet. There was something just magical about gliding across the studio floor.
And that’s where the whole pink tutu thing began! We were having a charity fundraising night for the ballet club. They were selling all sorts of goodies to raise money for a new dance floor, and there, among all the hats and scarves, was a pink tutu. Now, I’ve always been drawn to pink, you know that, it’s practically a religion in the Sparkle family. And something just drew me to that fluffy tutu. It had to be mine.
So I took a punt. I popped it on. And it was love at first swirl. I mean, come on, who wouldn’t love twirling in a giant cloud of pink fluff?! That's where my life changed! From then on, it was all about tutus, glitter, and finding ways to sprinkle that pink magic everywhere I go!
By day, Alex, the science geek, is hard at work testing fabrics in a laboratory, trying to understand their structure and performance. It’s actually pretty cool work, you know? But as soon as the lab shuts down, Alex vanishes into thin air. Well, not exactly.
She becomes Pink Tutu Sparkles, the Queen of pink, and she gets ready to light up the world! And this amazing, inspiring adventure is all thanks to that one pink tutu, all those years ago.
I always tell people that being Pink Tutu Sparkles makes Alex's world a lot more colourful! Because, after all, life’s too short to take things seriously all the time. A little glitter, a few laughs, and a lot of fun is how we sparkle through life. You know, a lot like Pink Tutu Sparkles herself.
