Rhyl Calling: Pink Tutu Sparkles is On Her Way!

Hello darlings! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-loving diva, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here and today’s post is a little bit special – Blog Number 9542! – it’s all about my trip to the seaside town of Rhyl, North Wales, this February 14th. And yes, that is Valentine's Day. So strap yourselves in for a love-tastic, tutu-filled, sparkly extravaganza!

Now, you all know me: I’m a girl who loves a bit of sparkle and glamour, a twirl in a fluffy pink tutu, and the joyous sounds of the ballet. But, darling, there’s something magical about hitting the road and bringing the Pink Tutu Sparkles show to new towns.

This trip to Rhyl was particularly special, a real mix of sunshine and seaside! You know I love a train journey - nothing beats settling into a plush first class carriage with a cuppa and a good book. Of course, I was a little nervous as always when arriving in a new place, not knowing what to expect, or if I’d meet the most wonderful and inspiring group of fans. You’d think after years on the road I wouldn’t feel a bit anxious!

But honestly, I needn’t have worried for one moment! Rhyl, and its kind and lovely locals, made me feel instantly at home. The minute my sparkly heels touched the station platform I felt like I’d been there before! Rhyl had an irresistible air about it. It’s the sort of town that could transport you right back to a 1950s seaside resort, but with a contemporary touch. Imagine bright seaside kiosks brimming with the salty scent of fish and chips, vintage amusement arcades full of roaring arcade machines, a bustling promenade, a big blue beach, and charming Victorian architecture, all set to the rhythm of crashing waves. You can see why I was smitten from the start! And that’s before we even got to the food and drink scene.

Rhyl, darling, you had me at "hello!"

Of course, no Pink Tutu Sparkles trip is complete without a stop for some shopping. And let me tell you, the shops of Rhyl are absolute gems! I popped into the independent shops on the high street, filled with unique crafts and treasures, the designer boutiques full of shimmering sequins, the charity shops for a few vintage finds. Oh darling, I even managed to squeeze in a trip to the local market. The aroma of freshly baked goods and the vibrancy of local producers had me whizzing around like a bee visiting each and every stall! But, naturally, I ended up coming back with enough treats and treasures to open my very own boutique! Let’s be honest, darling, a girl’s got to treat herself once in a while!

Then there’s the seaside, my darlings! Now, let’s be clear, Pink Tutu Sparkles is a city girl at heart, and I haven’t had much experience of sandy beaches. But darling, Rhyl’s seafront captured my heart! There I was strolling along the prom with a whiff of salty air, enjoying the rhythm of the seagulls flying overhead. It’s pure bliss, I tell you! I was feeling the wind in my hair, and feeling the most invigorated by the sunshine on my face! Of course, it wasn’t quite summer yet, but you couldn’t tell with the warmth on my cheeks from that crisp fresh sea air!

Of course, I didn’t just sit on the beach and twirl in my tutu (although that would be delicious!). I got involved in Rhyl’s fun, vibrant activities! It gave me an opportunity to meet the locals and explore the real essence of this place. And my darlings, the people were more welcoming than I’ve ever encountered. They truly live by the Rhyl motto - "Friendly Faces on a Fabulous Coast.ā€

I even indulged in a delicious picnic lunch in the park. As I sunk into the crisp spring grass with my freshly prepared picnic, I reflected on my trip and pondered on all the lovely memories made so far. The town, its charming atmosphere, and its friendly faces, were starting to leave a huge mark on me already, even though I hadn’t been here long!

Rhyl's got a vibrant arts and culture scene! From art galleries bursting with colour to intimate theatres that whisper stories and bring them to life. I took in a local ballet performance, and I felt myself becoming entranced, utterly swept away in a flurry of emotions, dancing with the graceful dancers.

Later in the day I decided to go all out and try my hand at Rhyl’s famous themed bingo session. This wasn't just bingo, it was an immersive event full of glitz, glam, and dancing – it was the perfect excuse to show off my favourite, dazzling pink tutu. It's the perfect activity to add a bit of colour to your evening and meet the friendly residents of Rhyl.

Now, to any tutu lovers out there: when I say "fabulousā€, I mean absolutely FABULOUS!

If you want to really experience what Rhyl is all about - that ā€œyou only live onceā€ feeling - get yourselves down there! Rhyl is just begging to be explored and to be loved! With so many things to discover around every corner and so much to love - there’s never a dull moment in Rhyl!

Rhyl is an amazing mix of things, darling. There's a bit of magic about the place. It’s somewhere where everyone feels welcomed and comfortable. And it just goes without saying - a big dose of Pink Tutu Sparkles magic, as well. Rhyl, you have a special place in my heart already.

Love, Pink Tutu Sparkles xx
