So, I know I always say it, but seriously, Broadstairs was absolutely dreamy! 🥰 It’s like a slice of vintage seaside magic, the kind you'd find in a nostalgic movie with sun-kissed beaches and pastel-colored cottages. The whole town was oozing with that quintessential English charm, making me feel like I’d stepped into a picture postcard!
Getting there was half the fun, of course! This time, I opted for a vintage steam train, a proper old-fashioned steam engine chugging through the beautiful Kent countryside. It felt so much like stepping back in time, I nearly pulled out my parasol for extra drama! 🎩 And, let me tell you, arriving at Broadstairs station with a billowing pink tutu in tow certainly caused a stir. I’m pretty sure everyone on the platform had a cheeky smile! 😊
My first stop had to be the iconic Broadstairs promenade, of course. It’s a classic! I strutted along with the salty breeze whipping my tulle and the seagulls squawking a chorus of “hello, pink tutu!” 😂 The beach itself was like something out of a fairy tale - pearly white sands, sparkling turquoise waters, and oh-so-many pebbles perfect for a little sparkly accessorizing! 💎 I even managed to find a vintage postcard stand with an absolute gem of a postcard featuring a little girl in a pink tutu. Of course, I had to add that to my ever-growing tutu-inspired postcard collection! 😉
But Broadstairs is more than just sunshine and seaside vibes. I ventured into the town center, and let me tell you, the independent shops are something else! From quirky vintage boutiques bursting with colorful trinkets to artisanal craft shops selling everything from handmade soaps to delicious fudge, I was in a shopaholic's paradise! 💖
Speaking of paradise, no trip to Broadstairs is complete without a delicious cuppa and a slice of cake at one of its charming cafes! I opted for a quaint little tea room with rose-patterned wallpaper and mismatched china. They had the most incredible Victoria sponge I’ve ever tasted - fluffy, moist, and with just the right amount of jam and cream. My inner sugar queen was delighted. 🧁
The highlight of my Broadstairs adventure? A trip to the beautiful Dickens House Museum! 📚 For those who don't know, Charles Dickens famously used to holiday in Broadstairs. The museum is absolutely charming, filled with antique furniture, historic photos, and even some of Dickens’ original manuscripts. It was so inspiring to be surrounded by his literary legacy, especially considering that he wrote A Christmas Carol in this very house! 🎄
Of course, no Pink Tutu Sparkles trip would be complete without some serious performing! I gave a little pop-up drag show in a local park. You could tell everyone loved the pink. 😂 It was a delightful affair - complete with a few of my favorite dance routines, dazzling make-up and a sparkly pink tutu fit for a princess! 💖
Broadstairs left my heart as light as a feather and my wardrobe overflowing with pink! 🥰 I’m so glad I took the plunge and ventured into this Kent coastal gem. From the vibrant promenade to the quaint streets, Broadstairs was a delightful escape filled with vintage charm and seaside beauty. 💖 If you ever get the chance, I urge you to explore it for yourself!
