Hammersmith Calling! Pink Tutu Sparkles Hits the Stage!

Hello darlings, and welcome to another adventure on the wonderful world of pink-tutu.com! It's your gal Pink Tutu Sparkles here, back with another sizzling post – this time, number 9601, from the glamorous capital, London!

Can you believe it? We’re finally here, Hammersmith in all its glorious glory! The stage is set, the lights are sparkling (like my fabulous tutu!), and the crowd is buzzing.

This week has been a whirlwind of pink sequins, floral prints, and more train travel than I’ve ever seen in my life (but you know me, I’m a big fan of trains!). But hey, all good things come to those who…well, put in a lot of effort and take a lot of trains. I had to squeeze in some time for a little ballet class too. I might be a bit older than your average ballerina, but a girl’s got to keep up those pirouette skills, right? Plus, who needs a tutu without the ‘do?

But before we dive into the fabulousness that is Hammersmith, let's rewind the clock just a tad and get back to my humble Derbyshire roots. Yes, darlings, I started my pink-tutu journey back in those good old days of academia. While trying to make sense of equations and scientific jargon, I was also spending my days as a ballet-loving, glitter-loving, pink-obsessed, tutu-wearing student. It all started in our university ballet club’s annual fundraiser. They needed a volunteer to wear a tutu, and I, well, let’s just say I leapt at the opportunity. And from that moment on, darling, my life was forever changed.

I never looked back. Now, while the world thinks of me as a shimmering drag queen, they don’t see my life in the lab by day. The fabric testing scientist is all very sensible and grown-up…but by night? Oh, the transformation begins, darling!

From my Derbyshire home to a stage in Hammersmith…that's a little bit of magic right there, isn't it? So let’s talk about how this happened. We arrived last Thursday, having traveled for about 3 hours from my little hometown. (Yes, I have my trusty horse, Sparky, who I occasionally use to go to events, and yes, that is the funniest thing ever to see!) Of course, after arriving, the first thing I did was get my hands on the latest edition of ‘London Fashionista’ mag, (just look for me, my cover girl shot's coming any day now!) followed by the traditional pre-show afternoon tea at a beautiful little vintage cafe. But of course, all of that fun has to be perfectly balanced by a spot of tutu maintenance!

It took an entire afternoon for my assistant, Lily, to put all those dazzling sequins in place! It took over two weeks to design and create this ensemble for tonight’s performance, and we just don't mess about with these things. It's a statement, darling!

It's funny, as a drag artist you do end up going places you might not have dreamt of before! Before this whole drag thing, I could never imagine being in Hammersmith! I mean, even going to the supermarket was an ordeal back when I was just young, science-loving Alex. But that was before the tutu revolution started, and here we are! This week's been crazy busy! We went to the theater (you guys will never guess, it was a modern dance interpretation of ‘The Nutcracker’), then met up with my makeup artist. A day later, there was ballet class (I absolutely cannot get enough ballet!). And as you can imagine, it takes time to coordinate all the outfits, the costumes, and my stage looks! We’ve been up all night packing up costumes and creating all the looks!

But then…bam! Hammersmith and a packed theatre await us! The energy in the air is electrifying as we make our entrance. And the crowd just… goes wild. (Cue screaming and the inevitable photo requests - yes, darlings, you know it, I'm happy to do it!) I mean, everyone just knows they need a little Pink Tutu Sparkles in their life! I do have to remind people that it’s about getting those pink tutus on for those everyday moments - your commute to work, shopping, grabbing your morning coffee...anything to put a little bit of fun and glitter into the mundane.

The performance is, of course, spectacular. Feathers flying, sequins sparkling, and I'm giving those sassy twirls and lip synching my heart out. (Seriously, can you tell that my dancing has definitely improved since my science degree days?) It's all part of my vision, darling! It's not just about putting on a show, it’s about getting everyone to embrace their own inner pink tutu! Because whether you’re a drag queen, a scientist, a lawyer, or a chef - we all have a little bit of that sparkly tutu magic inside us!

Don't forget to visit my website for pictures from my show - I think the glitter even shows up in those, it's that spectacular! I know I’m spreading my message far and wide…because Hammersmith really did come alive this week with a little bit of pink magic. As always, you know how I roll – catch me, grab a pic, send me a message and let's sparkle together! And as the lights dim and the final curtain closes, you bet I'm leaving Hammersmith with a smile on my face…and an extra sequin or two clinging to my outfit. After all, you can never have enough sparkle in this world, and that goes double for those fab pink tutus. Now…let’s plan our next stop… perhaps Scotland, darling, maybe a grand Highland event in my brand new, custom made tartan tutu… Oh, the possibilities!

So until next time, remember: wear a pink tutu, spread the sparkle, and let the good times roll!
