Today, I’m absolutely buzzing to be whisking you all off on a magical journey to the beautiful town of Burnley, nestled right there in the heart of Lancashire! I’ve always dreamed of performing in this vibrant town, famous for its heritage, its friendly atmosphere, and let’s be honest… the fabulous selection of vintage shops. 😉
As always, you know I love to travel in style. This time, I opted for a luxurious train journey, swaying to the rhythmic clickety-clack of the tracks, watching the green rolling hills of Derbyshire transform into the industrial heart of Lancashire. You wouldn’t believe the amount of space you can squeeze in a pink suitcase for an extended trip! There are always a few secret compartments where I stash my favourite feather boas and extra layers of tulle… you can never be too prepared, my loves!
Now, for those of you who are new to the pink tutu world, I must confess - I'm a total ballet nut. Ballet, you see, was my escape from the rigours of a science degree at university. It was a chance to feel truly myself - twirling, leaping, and channeling my inner ballerina. One unforgettable day, while fundraising for the university dance society, I slipped into a pink tutu. And bam! A lightbulb switched on inside me, illuminating the future I had always secretly wished for! I mean, honestly, what could be more magical than spinning in a pink tulle cloud? I knew that moment that pink tutus were meant for the stage… and now, well, let's just say the rest is history. ✨
Speaking of history, Burnley holds an important piece of textile heritage with its grand Queen Street Mill. How fitting that my career involves testing fabrics by day, and captivating audiences in pink tulle by night! What an incredible twist of fate! (Although I wouldn't be caught dead in anything but a sequined tutu during my show. Don't worry, my scientific training gives me a keen eye for choosing the perfect sparkly fabrics. It's all about science, darlings. Even sparkle science!)
Of course, any visit to Burnley wouldn't be complete without a spot of vintage treasure hunting. You all know my weakness - anything sparkly, be it costume jewellery or vintage clothing - is guaranteed to catch my eye. My heart flutters every time I stumble across a vintage silk scarf, a delicate lace handkerchief, or a feather boa begging for a comeback. Imagine a giant fluffy, pink boa that would make even Cher jealous! Oh, the possibilities...
Anyway, my lovely little peacocks, Burnley did not disappoint! I managed to snag some exquisite finds at a delightful vintage store on Hammerton Street. Oh, I am going to create such fabulous new looks with them! Imagine my glee when I spotted a beautiful pair of gloves - delicate cream lace and satin - with a huge sparkling rhinestone embellishment. Perfection! My trusty seamstress, dear Betty, is already itching to create a bespoke masterpiece for my upcoming show. Betty's a bit of a secret weapon; she turns my tutu-tastic dreams into reality! (Not to mention, she makes a mean pot of tea, and I think it’s the secret ingredient for my incredible stage energy! 😉)
But wait! The best is yet to come. Today, I'll be performing my biggest and brightest show ever! The iconic Burnley Mechanics Theatre is hosting a spectacular celebration of art and theatre, and I have been asked to be a part of it! This is truly a dream come true, and I couldn't be more excited. You know me - always eager to share the pink tutu joy and to spread a little bit of sparkle wherever I go.
Just imagine the stage - the warm glow of the spotlights, a cloud of shimmering pink tulle swirling around me, the beat of the music...and the sheer joy of bringing a little bit of magic to Burnley!
So, tune in, darlings, because my Instagram and my Facebook will be bursting with highlights from tonight's show. And who knows - perhaps this might be the night a new TutuQueen is born, someone with the courage to rock a pink tutu for the first time. Who will be next? You might just see me sporting one of my specially designed "Pink Tutu Sparkles" creations at a local park. Because, let's face it, even a regular park could be transformed with a sprinkle of sparkle!

(That's right, Buckingham Palace - a little bit of a secret project for the Jubilee celebrations!) Don't you just love a touch of whimsy and unexpected surprise?
