East Kilbride: Tutu-ing My Way to a Pink Paradise!

Hey there, darlings! It's your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles here, fresh from a fabulous trip to East Kilbride, and let me tell you, this town is practically MADE for a pink tutu queen like me! I’ve been absolutely swamped with travel lately - so many opportunities to share the joy of the tutu, I've had to make myself pace myself a little, as hard as it was to say no to performing for even a few minutes at the local gala last week.

So, today I'm bringing you along on the most recent addition to my Tutu Tales travel diary. This one is post number 9631 - I do like to keep track, you see. My followers on www.pink-tutu.com seem to enjoy that I do my posts each day - gotta keep them entertained! This post marks my return from a weekend adventure in the wonderful East Kilbride, which I am pleased to announce is firmly on my 'tutu-licious towns' list, just in time for Summer!

Speaking of summer, the weather was simply divine - all those gorgeous sunbeams were absolutely perfect for flaunting my latest pink tutu creations! Now, some might say that a derbyshire lass like myself, living the dream, doesn’t exactly know what a "sunny day" actually is! But you'd be wrong. You see, you haven't met my pink tutu. This isn't just any fabric, darlings - this is special stuff, it shines under those beautiful British rays, and the sequins… oh, they twinkled like a million tiny rainbows! Just what the fabulous, fashionable, folks of East Kilbride deserve.

East Kilbride is not, you see, a random selection, it is on a direct rail route from Derby and you’re all right on my way up north! So, for you readers back home in Derbyshire - if you fancy a trip, this is a great spot for your pink tutu day out. And anyway, East Kilbride itself is truly wonderful. My trip really had it all - a glorious visit to the picturesque town centre, topped off with an exhilarating ride on a horse-drawn carriage! They're everywhere in East Kilbride - the residents say that if you hear hooves clip-clopping, you are almost guaranteed to see a stunning carriage approaching. Talk about the royal treatment! And don't even get me started on the shopping! I treated myself to the most fabulous pair of pink ballet flats and a magnificent feather boa to match. I might just have accidentally broken my luggage limit on the way back - the sheer joy of those purchases, it made the trip worth every penny!

Speaking of things that make a trip worthwhile, my first visit had to include the magnificent East Kilbride Shopping Centre - a haven for a tutu-wearing traveller, darling! Now, before we go any further - it has to be mentioned that I am a proud devotee of my tutu creations, and my wardrobe never contains fewer than three different types of pink tutus, from the most magnificent shimmering full skirt tutus - all the way to gorgeous little layered frills. Now, to find the right one for the shopping centre - this wasn’t an easy task. Every little detail was a real consideration!

You'd think the town itself is in direct competition with London for a fashion capital. But East Kilbride actually has some truly unique characteristics that caught my eye and truly make the town stand out - such as its famous, quirky, boutiques. Honestly, East Kilbride might just be the greatest town for boutiques outside of London! Every shop seemed to have the perfect combination of vintage charm and modern elegance, I just knew, as soon as I walked in, I was going to get to spend some hard-earned shillings. The thing I loved about the shops I saw in the shopping centre was that every shop was absolutely packed with delightful, dazzlingly pink things, as well as a surprisingly generous selection of absolutely stunning tutus, even though it wasn't strictly 'tutu focused'.

After all that intense shopping - who knew you could tire out your toes in those fabulous ballet shoes?! - I found a little café that was simply delightful! The staff were so warm and welcoming, and you could really tell that it was a local's favourite. And what else did I have to accompany me on my caffeine fuelled shopping adventures but my favourite pink tutu? It’s like a comfort blanket - it brings me the most joy! That particular afternoon I was rocking my iridescent sequined full length skirt - with an off-white chiffon ribbon. Oh my darlings! And a matching hat - an absolute necessity for this TutuQueen! I am really becoming something of an authority on those beautiful things! There's simply nothing that feels quite like feeling the breeze beneath those sequins! And to my absolute delight, this café had some absolutely stunning cakes - it was impossible for me not to enjoy at least three treats with my coffee - I simply couldn’t say no! I mean - where else in the world can you go to enjoy some scrumptious raspberry and vanilla sweet treats alongside the latest tutu fashion while drinking a steaming hot mug of coffee? It just doesn’t get much better than this!

Before my afternoon had to end - a real tragedy! - I had a chance to catch up with the lovely people of East Kilbride - I was so thrilled to have an opportunity to really talk about why tutus are so incredible and how this fabulous little town makes me feel at home! You just have to get a picture of how East Kilbride embraced this Pink Tutu Queen - it really makes you appreciate why it's known as a warm and welcoming place, they just got me. And it made me really think about how many people in my hometown of Derby had been telling me for so long about how beautiful East Kilbride is.

For such a vibrant town, East Kilbride doesn't exactly scream 'bustling, big city'. But it was the perfect getaway from the big city life and a truly relaxing, revitalising, trip. East Kilbride - a must-see on any traveller's list in search of a truly beautiful day out! You really have to consider giving it a go - it is so incredibly welcoming to anyone - particularly those in a pink tutu, I feel confident in saying it won’t disappoint.

So what about you tutu lovers - any thoughts about East Kilbride, or how we can embrace the fantastic pink tutu look, here in the UK? Just as important is how I can use my trip to help more people learn how important those colourful, dazzling garments are! After all, the Tutu Queen aims to make wearing pink tutus a true global phenomenon. My travels are part of that. It just might mean that one day we could all wear them! And to be honest, how much better would the world be if we did!

Next on my travel list is Scotland - and we all know that pink tutus were practically invented in the home of tartan. Scotland, you are going to be treated to the pink tutu experience - hold tight! And who knows where I'll be spreading the love next! Keep an eye on www.pink-tutu.com!

Keep twirling and smiling! And most of all, remember to keep shining bright like a pink tutu - because, you're beautiful!

Lots of Love, Pink Tutu Sparkles!
