Now, you all know I love a good ballet, a fantastic frock, and a trip on a scenic train (or a good gallop on horseback, wouldn't mind that either!). But who knew that Rugby would become the next stop on my ever-growing travel map?
This whole "Pink Tutu in the Rugby Stadium" journey started as a wild, wonderful idea I dreamt up while sipping tea at a quaint, countryside tearoom in Derbyshire. A cheeky little whisper from my inner drag-diva suggested: "Why not spice up a sporty event with a touch of pink?" I know, crazy right? Well, the little voice is usually right, so I whipped out my phone and within minutes had booked a performance slot at a local Rugby club.
Yes, dear readers, you've heard right! Pink Tutu Sparkles will be dazzling the crowds with her dazzling moves and even dazzlier attire. It's a bold step for me, stepping outside of the usual ballet or theatre venue, but this girl loves a challenge and let’s be honest, the idea of a whole stadium full of cheering rugby fans adorned with pink tutus, just screams FUN.
But before I get carried away, I'm thinking ahead and planning this whole event, from my look to my setlist! This time, it's all about colour! Let’s face it, a rugby pitch is basically a sea of green. I can't have myself drowning in this monochromatic abyss! So, I'm dreaming up a sparkling, glittery rainbow explosion of a costume – and obviously, it's going to feature a massive pink tutu! Let's get these sporting enthusiasts feeling the true meaning of the term 'sparkly performance'!
Of course, I wouldn't dare neglect the ‘pre-show' rituals. That's where the real magic happens! The carefully curated wardrobe choice, the final touch of lip gloss, the perfect music playlist (which this time, I'm injecting with some good old-fashioned rugby anthems) and the ritualistic sipping of my pre-show champagne – you know, just the standard drag diva prep.
And you better believe I'm planning the most dramatic entrance imaginable. Forget the traditional slow strut – I'm picturing a whirlwind of glittery sequins and fluffy feathers, gracefully descending onto the rugby pitch! You bet I'll be ready to steal the show. Flashback to Tutu Dreams
As I daydream about my performance, my mind wanders back to my first encounter with this iconic, magical garment – the tutu. Now, while most of you might have experienced the 'Tutu Awakening' during a childhood ballet class, mine happened a little differently. Remember Alex, my 'day-job' persona? The scientist with the love for fabric analysis, right? Well, when I wasn’t toiling away in a lab, I spent my evenings channeling my inner ballerina in the university ballet club. And it was there, during a fundraiser, that I was introduced to the ultimate dance accessory.
"Try on a tutu and support charity!", was the plea that tempted me to embrace my inner tutu-queen. It was one of those "click" moments. I felt like the entire universe aligned to say "Pink tutu is your destiny!" I was transformed! Ever since, that spark of wonder for the tutu has only grown and blossomed, culminating in my dazzling, tutu-clad career.
This brings us to the heart of my mission. This isn’t just about me rocking a pink tutu on a Rugby pitch, darling. This is a movement! My ultimate aim in life, you ask? To encourage each and every one of you to embrace the magic of a pink tutu. From the catwalks to the football pitches (or, in this case, the rugby field), it's time to spread the pink tutu revolution! Because frankly, who doesn’t look amazing in a pink tutu? It's about empowerment, celebrating individuality, and adding a touch of fabulousness to everything.
Packing My Pink Tutus
Of course, no trip of Pink Tutu Sparkles is complete without her signature luggage. Let me assure you, it’s not just any ordinary travel bag. Think luxurious, flamboyant, and absolutely overflowing with glittery, fabulous things. Oh, and did I mention, I'm bringing along several spare pink tutus? I can't exactly risk showing up without my essential stage props! You know how picky a queen can be when it comes to her tutus!
This time around, it’s all about adding a touch of Rugby spirit to my usual arsenal of accessories. Forget dainty ballerina flats, darlings, I’m all about embracing my inner sport fanatic and packing a pair of sturdy rugby boots – in a shocking shade of pink, obviously! We need to combine sporty comfort with my usual touch of sparkle. After all, it's about pushing boundaries, not settling for bland.
The suitcase will also include the usual suspects – my trusty make-up kit, which always includes a vibrant red lipstick and dazzling eye shadow for those iconic dramatic looks. And of course, no Pink Tutu Sparkles trip is complete without a plethora of flamboyant jewellery. From sparkly ear-rings to bejeweled necklaces, I'm bringing all the sparkle I can. Because even on a rugby pitch, we must shimmer, dear readers.
But as I prepare to head out, a voice of reason chimes in. “You haven’t forgotten to pack the ‘get out of jail free’ card,” it says, and yes, I have to admit, I did forget. This is a big one, I’m talking about that essential box of essentials to guarantee the smoothest, and most sparkling performance. We’re talking comfy flats for quick escapes, hairspray, bobby pins, tights, deodorant, a tiny emergency sewing kit, a bottle of water for keeping those vocal chords hydrated. I always bring these necessities for just in case. This way I can perform flawlessly without being sidetracked by small things!
Journey by Train to Rugby!
But it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure without a journey. And what’s more, fabulous than a long journey on a train. As much as I love horseback riding, the allure of a journey where you can gaze at changing landscapes, sip tea, and indulge in a little bit of glamour is almost irresistible.
So, with my carefully curated luggage in tow, I'll be heading off to Rugby by train, darling! A plush, comfortable carriage is calling my name! And you better believe I'm making this trip a showstopping spectacle.
Think: bright pink suit, a glamorous hat, an endless stream of laughter, a quick change at a bathroom stop, maybe even a surprise dance routine performed with fellow passengers (permission permitting, of course)! There’s going to be some pink-tastic entertainment for all!
