Pink Power Takes to the Tracks!
We all know I love to travel, don’t we? Especially by train, or maybe by horseback… but a good old-fashioned train ride is always my favourite! It gives me the chance to plan outfits, do some reading, maybe even knock out a quick choreographed dance routine in the reflection of the window (don't worry, no one saw!).
I always feel like my outfits are much more dazzling under the golden glow of train station lights. And believe me, I was feeling my best in my new pink polka dot tutu! Honestly, you haven’t seen sparkles until you’ve seen the reflection of a pink tutu in a train station mirror. 😉
This trip wasn't about reaching the destination, darling, it was all about the journey. A classic pink TutuQueen saying! It was the thrill of exploring new places, meeting interesting people, and sharing a little bit of my love for all things pink and sparkly with the world.
Feltham Fancies: From Fabrics to Fairground Fun
So, what was so special about Feltham? Well, besides being a lovely town, Feltham hosted an amazing vintage fair, with crafts, trinkets, and vintage finds galore! My day was divided into two fabulous segments - vintage treasures by day and a stunning ballet performance by night!
You see, darlings, my day job is a bit more... scientific than my fabulous drag life. By day, I'm Alex, working away in a lab, testing the tensile strength of fabrics (very important!). But once the sun sets, the TutuQueen awakens! The pink tutu is a symbol of everything that makes me feel like my true self, a symbol of playful elegance, vibrant energy, and joy. And what better way to connect my love for fabrics and my love for dancing than with a vintage fair?
I spent hours chatting with lovely craftswomen about their fabrics and yarns, all the while brainstorming ideas for my future TutuQueen costumes! Maybe a crochet-covered tutu for a performance at a yarn festival?! I’m full of big, pink ideas.
Finding Fairy Tales in a Feltham Theatre
My trip wouldn't have been complete without experiencing the joy of ballet. Feltham hosted an evening performance of "Sleeping Beauty," a story that has always held a special place in my heart. I absolutely adored the way they interpreted the classic story.
The dancers were graceful, the music was enchanting, and the stage was dazzling. Every moment felt like magic. The perfect setting for a TutuQueen to be inspired!
Watching the graceful movements of the ballerinas on stage, the perfect blend of strength and artistry, inspired me in ways I couldn't even begin to explain. Maybe it’s the pink tulle that makes the connection, but seeing the passion and dedication in their performance reminded me of why I do what I do!
The Magic of Sharing a Pink Passion
It’s my passion, dear readers, to get the whole world to don a pink tutu at least once! We are all fabulous and deserving of the sheer joy of twirling, dancing, and sparkling.
Each TutuQueen adventure teaches me something new. And I love learning! Maybe the vintage fabric inspiration will translate to an entirely new performance look? Perhaps the vibrant costumes from "Sleeping Beauty" will inspire me to explore the use of different colors and textures for my next design.
The biggest lesson, darling, is this: the world needs more joy and whimsy. So, wear a pink tutu. Put on some sparkly eyeshadow, strut your stuff, and just let the joy shine through!
