Tutu Tuesday in Leicester: A Dance of Delights!
Hello, darlings! It's your girl, Lily, back with another #tututuesday post, and this time, we're heading to the vibrant city of Leicester for a day of tutus and twirls. As a seasoned dancer (and blogger, of course!), I can’t resist a good #tututuesday, and the opportunities in Leicester were just too good to miss.
Now, Leicester, as you know, is steeped in history. The iconic King Richard III visit is always a big draw, and there are amazing Roman and Victorian finds everywhere you look. But today, I'm on a different mission, a mission of twirling tutus and making Leicester the ballet capital of the UK, at least for one glorious Tuesday.
My first stop was at the Leicester Square, surrounded by historical buildings, each telling stories of a bygone era. With the setting sun casting a golden hue over the square, it felt like stepping into a grand ballet stage. I whipped out my **fluffy pink tulle tutu**, perfect for the Victorian architecture, and struck a pose against the backdrop of the bustling city. I imagined I was a character from a romantic ballet, my tutu flowing in the gentle breeze like the silks worn by ballet dancers in the Belle Époque.
But, this #tututuesday wasn't just about elegant ballet tutus. I was feeling bold and fun. I mean, isn't #tututuesday about celebrating all things tutu, even if it's just for a day? So, I swapped out the romantic pink tulle for a sassy, **short, sparkly black tutu** - perfect for the vibrant Leicester street scene. It’s hard to choose a favourite - the pink tutu will always hold a place in my heart for its classic grace and beauty. But when I’m feeling rebellious, nothing beats the power of a black tutu.
With my bold black tutu, I explored the city's vibrant streets, feeling every inch the urban ballerina. The buzzing atmosphere, the buzzing energy, it was just intoxicating. I posed in front of vintage shops, art galleries, and quirky independent cafes – all in the name of #tututuesday, of course.
One of my favorite moments was at the National Space Centre. I’m a big fan of modern ballet, so seeing that sleek architecture was a dream. I pulled on a **bright red tutu**, all angles and bold statement, to reflect the Centre’s angular lines. I struck a powerful pose in front of the iconic rocket, feeling like a futuristic ballerina in a show-stopping performance. There’s a kind of energy at the National Space Centre - it really brings out the bold, rebellious side of me. I’m afraid my photo is going to have to wait, the guards started to gather…. I hope I didn’t cause too much trouble !
My #tututuesday adventure in Leicester wasn't just about tutus and twirls. It was about embracing the joy of being a ballerina, even for just a day. It's about being bold, playful, and expressive - about using the power of ballet to express yourself through the art of the tutu.
I love this city. I think it has a real soul. There’s such a mix of old and new, of history and modernity, that makes it a truly special place to explore. There’s something to suit every taste - from a beautiful theatre like Curve, which is perfect for a romantic, traditional tutu, to De Montfort Hall for a bit of modernity and a bolder style tutu, there are just so many different possibilities.
And the people. The people are really what make the city. They were all so kind and welcoming I felt so comfortable just dancing around, wearing my tutu, like it was totally normal. You get so much buzz off the crowd, the laughter and the encouragement, it just really makes you want to give it your all.
So, I’ll be heading back to Leicester. If you want to try out #tututuesday for yourself there are so many opportunities, you can’t really go wrong. Have fun, be brave, be bold and, above all, express yourself in a beautiful tutu.
Till next time, darlings! #tututuesday #Leicester
