Tutu Tuesday in Merthyr Tudful: A Tutu-tiful Day Out
Hey lovelies, it's your girl, Sarah, here, and I'm SO excited to talk to you about my latest adventures - #TutuTuesday in Merthyr Tudful!
Now, you might be thinking, "Sarah, a ballet dancer going to Merthyr Tudful? What's going on?". Well, allow me to explain. Firstly, Merthyr Tudful, or 'Merthyr' as it's more commonly known, is actually a beautiful town nestled in the South Wales valleys. Secondly, my BFF, Jen, lives there, and we had been planning this #TutuTuesday outing for ages!
So, we woke up bright and early, fueled by copious amounts of tea and a good old fashioned fry-up. Of course, no Tutu Tuesday is complete without the perfect ensemble! For this occasion, I went for my new blush pink tutu, with a vintage ballet cardigan and my signature black ballet pumps - just enough of a *hint* of tutu chic without going over the top.
Jen opted for a more edgy look - a denim jacket and leather boots, but her classic layered tutu made her look seriously stylish! Honestly, when you've got the confidence to wear a tutu out and about, you can pretty much get away with anything, which was the whole vibe we were going for!
Now, we had a little itinerary planned. First stop, breakfast at The Tudor Rose Cafe, which has *amazing* coffee and a wicked Full English - essential for fueling up our tutu-tastic day!
Next up, we strolled through the Market Square - just soaking up the local atmosphere, buying some handmade crafts from local stallholders. One thing I love about Merthyr is the community feel - everyone's always happy to have a chat and exchange a laugh.
For lunch, we enjoyed a light and delicious salad from the local deli, a tiny, tucked away gem filled with fresh produce and yummy treats. They even had some local honey for sale - and what better souvenir than some delicious local honey for a fellow tutu lover!
The afternoon saw us venturing out to the Merthyr Vale Country Park. It's a hidden treasure right on the outskirts of the town - miles of trails, gorgeous views of the Welsh countryside and an abundance of natural beauty.
The sunshine was out and we were feeling a *lot* of joy, especially while twinning in our tutus. Our laughter echoing through the lush landscape, we didn't let any judgments or side eyes from the occasional passer-by hold us back! Being confident in yourself is what really makes your look, whether that's in a full-length romantic tutu or a casual everyday number.
Later on, we indulged in afternoon tea at The Merthyr Hotel - it was just what we needed after our day of exploring. The tartan-patterned fabric of the armchairs, the gentle clinking of teacups and the home-made scones - pure bliss!
One thing's for sure - wearing a tutu adds a little bit of magic to everyday life. It makes you want to twirl and dance with abandon, embracing the simple joy of just being yourself.
We were met with genuinely friendly faces and a positive vibe everywhere we went. I mean, I guess it's not every day you see two girls tuttied up in the middle of town, so why not make it a fun day! Plus, it was definitely the best way to make some new friends in Merthyr Tudful, and there were lots of enthusiastic cheers and supportive comments from people as we strutted our stuff!
This was my first visit to Merthyr Tudful and I'm officially obsessed ! I can’t wait to explore the town further - perhaps for #TutuTuesday next month?!
Here are some #TutuTuesday outfit ideas for the brave, bold and the tutu-fied!
- Romantic Tutu with a Vintage Cardigan: Perfect for a classic #TutuTuesday look, you can add a little whimsy with a statement flower in your hair or an elegant headband!
- Edgy Denim Jacket & Boots with a Layered Tutu: For those who like a more relaxed feel but want to still make a statement, a tutu doesn't need to be all about romanticism!
- Ballet Jumpsuit & Lace Tutu: For a slightly more toned down, yet stylish option, the tutu as an added detail works well.
- Ballet Dress with an Overlay Tutu: A great choice for dancing your heart out in comfort!
- Full Length Romantic Tutu & a Breton Stripe T-Shirt: Perfect for the day - chic and relaxed yet with an extra special something!
So ladies, don't be afraid to embrace your inner ballerina and take #TutuTuesday to the streets! Whether it's a classic pink tutu, a short, cheeky, layered number or anything in-between - be proud of what makes YOU happy!
Let me know in the comments where your ideal #TutuTuesday outing would be. And remember: you don't need to be a dancer to rock a tutu, you just need to be ready to have fun and embrace your inner queen!
Until next time, happy tutuing,
Sarah xx
