Tutu Tuesday in Yvetot, Normandy, France - #tututuesday
G'day lovelies! So, I'm finally in France! After months of planning and saving, I've landed in the charming little town of Yvetot, Normandy, and let me tell ya, it's been a dream come true! The air is filled with the scent of fresh pastries, cobblestone streets wind through quaint little shops, and the architecture is straight out of a fairytale.
But let's get down to the real reason I'm here: **Ballet in France!** It's no secret that this country has a rich and vibrant ballet history. And believe me, I'm keen to soak up all the inspiration I can get!
This week, I decided to celebrate **Tutu Tuesday** in Yvetot, a small town with big ballet ambitions. I’m so excited to tell you about it and hopefully, spark a little **#tututuesday** magic wherever you are.
Now, you wouldn’t think a little town like Yvetot would be a ballet hot spot, right? Well, you'd be wrong! They’ve got their own local ballet school called Ecole de Danse de Yvetot. There’s definitely some serious talent here, and the students have the dedication to match. It's so inspiring to see them taking on classic ballets with such passion.
The school itself is nestled away on a quiet little street and looks so charming from the outside. It's a bit of a time capsule, and the feel reminds me of all the vintage ballet posters and photographs I've seen over the years. The outside’s got these beautiful ornate iron gates and there’s a sweet little garden where I can see kids playing between lessons. They definitely know how to look after their young ballerinas here!
But of course, my mission is not just about ballet schools. No way! This trip’s all about me immersing myself in the culture and history of ballet in France. So naturally, I had to hit up some second-hand boutiques and antique shops. Who knew there was a whole other world out there when it came to vintage ballet tutus?!
There were some real treasures hiding away. I found a gorgeous, vintage, hand-sewn white tutu with layers of tulle that were more beautiful than words can describe. It felt like it had been preserved for centuries, and I could picture ballerinas from another era gracefully swirling across the stage in it. Then there was this bright blue, knee-length tutu - almost like something you'd see in a whimsical production of the Nutcracker. I was also lucky enough to stumble across a tutu made entirely of soft pink silk that was just so light and elegant, a complete dream. It almost looked more like a cloud than a piece of clothing!
Talking about dreams… my next stop was the Musée de la Danse de Paris. You know I love to learn, so when I heard about this incredible dance museum I knew I just had to go! I was in awe. They had the most amazing collection of ballet costumes and pointe shoes from famous dancers, props, set designs, and historical photographs. One exhibit even had a replica of a royal box from a Parisian theatre – like being whisked back to the era of ballet royalty!
But more importantly than costumes and relics, the museum told the story of dance as a true art form - not just pretty movements on a stage but a real journey through emotions. Every picture, costume, and object was an intimate reminder of how people express themselves through the power of dance.
Back in Yvetot, I also visited the theatre. And yes, you guessed it – it’s totally adorable! I can just picture all the children dressed up and ready for their first show. The building itself is beautiful with its bright pink brick walls and a giant ornate stage door - almost like an entrance to another world!
Of course, no visit to France would be complete without a delicious meal, so I headed over to a charming cafe nearby, where they were playing a gorgeous French melody as I tucked into a creamy French onion soup and some fresh pastries. What better way to end my Tutu Tuesday, and a day celebrating dance?
Before I leave, I just wanted to talk a bit about why I’m so passionate about ballet and **#tututuesday** in particular. For me, tutu’s are not just outfits; they represent courage, creativity, and above all, a passion for the arts.
This whole adventure has reminded me how much ballet really unites us all. Even in this tiny little town of Yvetot, the passion for this art form runs strong. It’s about more than fancy steps and perfect posture, it’s about dedication and passion that inspires us all.
So go forth my fellow dance enthusiasts. Wherever you are, let your inner ballerina shine bright! And make sure you don’t forget your #tututuesday spirit!
