Tutu Tuesday in Hamilton, Victoria: A Whirlwind of Tutu Inspiration! #tututuesday
Hey everyone! It's your girl, Anya, back with another #tututuesday blog post. This week, we're venturing out of the studio and into the streets of Hamilton, Victoria to see how this lovely town embraces the spirit of the tutu! From the traditional romantic tutu, to the modern, contemporary, and even the funky, fun styles, I'm on a mission to capture the magic of Tutu Tuesday in all its glory!
Hamilton, Victoria is a charming little town, tucked away in the heart of regional Australia, and a true hotbed of artistic passion! The local ballet scene is vibrant and dynamic, which makes me super proud to be an Aussie ballerina, and there's something magical about seeing tutus pop up everywhere! I have to say, it’s an absolute treat to witness this kind of tutu love in the air, and the community’s enthusiasm for embracing Tutu Tuesday really brought a big smile to my face!
Now, I know what you're thinking, “Anya, what exactly is Tutu Tuesday?”. It's a whimsical social media trend that encourages people around the globe, dancers and non-dancers alike, to wear tutus for the day, celebrating dance, creativity, and the joy of self-expression.
And oh my goodness, Hamilton absolutely killed it this Tutu Tuesday! From adorable kids twirling in their pastel tulle frocks, to sassy seniors rocking their pink feather boas and sparkly tutus, to trendy young adults channeling their inner prima ballerinas with tulle skirts and tutus, everyone got involved in the tutu frenzy! This infectious spirit is what makes #tututuesday such a fun and unifying movement.
My personal fave: a local florist, whose shop was practically overflowing with fragrant flowers and an abundance of beautiful tulle! Imagine - a giant tulle ball gown with ribbons adorned with gorgeous orchids, peonies, and hydrangeas! The way the delicate petals cascaded over the soft tulle – stunning, a truly artistic sight, not to mention, the best Instagram moment of the day!
Tutu Tuesday was definitely not all about classic tutus either, there were some really unexpected and creative styles floating around in Hamilton:
- One group of lads took “Tutu Tuesday” quite literally, sporting bright yellow tutu-like skirts made out of lengths of ribbon tied around their waists! I think the sight of their tulle ribbons blowing in the breeze sparked some hilarious tutu inspired dance moves - totally in line with the spirit of #tututuesday!
- One quirky cafe decided to embrace the tutu spirit with a unique cake design: a giant, three-tier cake covered in shimmering gold sequins and finished with a delicate, sparkly tulle top. They called it the “Ballet Royale Cake”, and you know what? It looked seriously scrumptious! They've really nailed the tutu style and aesthetic!
- Another absolute gem: A local baker with her absolutely sensational Tutu-inspired treats - everything from mini cakes and cookies, to macarons decorated with adorable tutu swirls and glitter! They were both edible works of art, and it’s hard to resist these charming creations! It's Tutu Tuesday treats taken to the next level!
To say it’s all been a delightful sensory experience for this dancer’s eyes and heart, is an understatement! Seeing everyone in their unique versions of tutu styles was incredibly inspiring - Tutu Tuesday has been truly embraced by Hamilton. It really highlighted how we can use clothing as a form of self-expression! And, as we twirled our way through Hamilton’s vibrant streets, I couldn’t help but notice the smiles everywhere I looked - from children excitedly spinning in their colourful tulle skirts to adults striking playful poses! It just goes to show that wearing a tutu, no matter your age or style, brings an undeniable spark of joy! It was like a wave of creativity and good vibes spread throughout the whole town. This infectious spirit proved to me that Tutu Tuesday isn’t just a trend, it’s an experience - it’s a movement, a reminder to embrace our individuality and bring joy to those around us, and that’s something pretty special!
