Tutu Tuesday in Studholm, New Brunswick: A Celebration of Dance and Fashion #tututuesday
Okay, fashionistas and fellow dance enthusiasts, it's time to get your tutus out! This past Tuesday, I joined the amazing dance community of Studholm, New Brunswick for the biggest Tutu Tuesday ever! The energy was electric, and it truly felt like everyone was stepping out of their comfort zones and into a world of swirling fabric and graceful moves.
I was absolutely smitten with the diversity of tutus! Some of the ladies were rocking classic, romantic tutus in soft pink and pale blue with a touch of shimmering sequins. The **Romantic tutu** is a true classic, always on trend. I spotted a few dancers with the **Classical tutu**, that beautiful and slightly stiffer layered style with an emphasis on dramatic lines. Then, there were a few brave souls who had embraced the more modern, contemporary styles! We saw **Modern tutus** in bolder colors like electric blue and crimson red. They were crafted from unconventional fabrics, with exciting new shapes and unexpected asymmetrical cuts!
But this was about so much more than just fashion. This was about community, passion, and embracing the art of dance! I loved seeing children, teenagers, and even senior citizens coming together in their own unique styles to show their love for the beautiful art of dance.
I had a chance to talk with some of the attendees about why they participated in Tutu Tuesday. One lady said she felt liberated wearing a tutu. It made her feel carefree, youthful and ready to take on anything. Another mentioned how the event helped her reconnect with her love of dance and how empowering it was to dance in public. She said, "For some people, this is a way to step into their inner child and express themselves creatively." I definitely agree.
But let's talk about Studholm, New Brunswick! This little town really brought its A-game to Tutu Tuesday. The event brought so much joy and colour to the local park, the beautiful landscape providing a fantastic backdrop to this wonderful gathering of dance lovers. I also caught glimpses of a stunning traditional Victorian architecture that lent a hint of romance and old world elegance to the whole event.
Here's a roundup of my favourite #tututuesday moments from the day:
A Glimpse of Dance in Canada:
- A group of children spontaneously formed a little dance circle in the park, their infectious laughter spreading across the gathering. I'm telling you, there’s something truly magical about witnessing children let loose and revel in the simple joy of movement. I feel a resurgence of that child-like wonder within me every time I see kids move freely like this!
- Seeing some seasoned senior citizens gracefully twirling in their own unique interpretations of ballet. I love the attitude of "you’re never too old for anything" and seeing that love of dance that spans a whole lifetime is simply inspiring.
From Our Style Blog
- The most eye-catching moment was when a local group of contemporary dancers surprised everyone with a short, modern dance routine! The dynamic energy was contagious, and everyone watched in awe! This made me realise just how vibrant the Canadian dance scene is. I see so many talented dancers at all levels emerging in Canada and putting their unique twist on traditional styles, breaking new ground in the world of ballet.
I think it’s events like this that make it so clear just how rich Canadian culture is. Whether it's traditional ballet, contemporary dance, hip hop, or any other style you can think of, this passion for dance seems to permeate communities across Canada, including this little town of Studholm. Tutu Tuesday is a testament to the incredible power of dance, its ability to unite us, to make us feel free, and to bring us pure joy. So, let’s hear it for the #tututuesday spirit, and keep those tutus swirling!
