Tutu Tuesday in McDougall, Ontario: A Whirlwind of Pointe Shoes and Pink
Hey everyone, it's your girl, Claire, back at it again with another post, and this time it's all about tutus. If you haven't noticed by now, I'm a bit of a tutu enthusiast – it's not just about the dance, it's about the *look* too.
As you all know, I live in the gorgeous McDougall, Ontario. While we might not be known for being the fashion capital of Canada, there's definitely a growing appreciation for all things pretty and stylish in this town. And with #TutuTuesday in full swing, McDougall was abuzz with tutus!
We kicked off the morning at our local dance studio, where they held a special Tutu Tuesday open house. The studio was decorated to the nines, complete with a balloon arch, sparkly streamers, and a photo booth for anyone wanting to capture their perfect #tututuesday selfie.
Seeing everyone come out to show off their tutu styles, was super inspiring! You really could tell everyone had a blast with it:
- The classic, billowing romantic tutu: These are perfect for showcasing all that pretty, airy tulle. So twirly, so dreamy!
- The bold, shorter tutus: Great for expressing more attitude!
- The classic, black tutu. Never goes out of style, can you tell? You see those featured a lot at The National Ballet of Canada.
- Even the more modern, asymmetrical tutus! Those really turned heads in the class.
We had the full gamut of tutu styles on display. Even the littlest ballerinas got to participate with their miniature versions. You can't teach kids about ballet, without the classic tutu right?
After the open house, I headed over to the town's farmers' market where they had set up a special Tutu Tuesday table! Imagine, local artisans were showcasing their own tutus, complete with hand-beaded trims and intricate designs. We all know that handmade tutus, can't compare to the off the rack varieties.
It wasn't just the tutus that were the highlight, but the atmosphere was simply contagious! We had laughter, impromptu dance parties in the middle of the market, and even a couple of professional ballet dancers stopped by to share some tips. I think I even saw someone sporting their pointe shoes at the farmer's market! You go girl, wear what makes you feel confident.
And, of course, it wouldn't be a true McDougall #TutuTuesday without a sprinkle of local charm. Our mayor, Mrs. Green, even donned a tutu and surprised everyone at the town's park! That's how much McDougall is about celebrating the small things.
It was definitely a memorable day! It made me think – what are other ways we can encourage this kind of joy in our community? Maybe a "Sweat-pant Saturday" or a "Bold Colour Monday"? Hmmm! If you have any ideas, send them my way!
