Tutu Tuesday in Burton upon Trent: A Fashionable Affair
Okay, darlings, let's talk tutu. You know I'm all about bringing the elegance and whimsy of the ballet world to the streets, and this #tututuesday, I decided to bring the magic to Burton upon Trent. Let's be real, it's not exactly a hub of fashion, but that just means there's room for a bit of sparkle and surprise, right?
So, tutu you fancy a day filled with fashion and a whole lotta twirling? Let me fill you in. I’m Annabelle, a ballet dancer turned fashion blogger and, let me tell you, the only thing more satisfying than nailing that pirouette is finding a perfect tutu for a day out!
Today's adventure kicked off with a stroll down the high street. You wouldn't believe the looks I got, but hey, who can blame them? My powder pink tulle tutu with a sweetheart neckline paired perfectly with a vintage cream knit cardigan and classic black pumps. Imagine that classic ballerina vibe, but with a street style twist!
The streets might not be lined with shops dedicated to ballet fashion, but there were gems to be found, trust me. I spotted a little vintage store tucked away in an alley that had the most adorable floral headbands. Who needs a crown when you've got a headband with a hand-stitched bow?
But Burton isn’t just about the high street. The town has a heart of industrial history, a charm often overlooked, but it’s this industrial side that lends a distinct, almost raw character to my Tutu Tuesday look! I'm a firm believer in playing with textures and contrasts. What better way to do that than to juxtapose my billowing tutu with the textured, worn-in look of the old factory buildings lining the canals. And let's not forget, those industrial brick walls made for a fabulous photo backdrop!
A Look at The Tutus: It’s Not Just a Pink and Frilly Thing
Now, when people think "tutu," they often picture the classic, puffy, pastel-coloured thing, right? But let me tell you, tutus come in all shapes, sizes, and colours. For my outing, I opted for a romantic pink tutu that gave off the vibe of a dreamy princess who happens to be a bit of a rebel, too. You're seeing more and more creative takes on the traditional tutu - the modern day ballerinas are pushing the boundaries. Just take a peek at the different variations!
* **The Contemporary Classic:** It’s sleek, shorter, and often made of a more substantial fabric like satin. Think “black swan” elegance but with a touch of playful spirit.
* **The Short and Sweet:** I’m a huge fan of this style. These mini tutus are great for creating a bit of edge and, in my opinion, are a little less fussy for everyday wear! Think ballerina meets street style icon.
* **The Colourful & Playful:** You can find everything from a neon green to a vibrant cobalt blue, even with bold animal print. Why blend in when you can create a pop of colour that speaks to your own personal style?
Let’s get back to #tututuesday in Burton upon Trent - it was more than just a fashion statement. For me, it’s about rediscovering the playful, joyous side of fashion, letting your personality shine. You'd be surprised at how many compliments and smiles I got that day - I think it really livened up the place. Maybe Burton needs more tutu therapy - if not for them, then certainly for myself.
I wouldn't normally say this, but Burton upon Trent has definitely found a new fan - a fan who believes in bringing a little bit of sparkle wherever she goes.
