Rutherglen: Tutu Tuesday - a whirl of tutus!
So, it's Tutu Tuesday! My social media feeds have been ablaze with frothy tulle all week. I must admit, I've been feeling the anticipation too. After all, you can never have too much tulle, right? ? And who better to judge a good tutu than a ballerina, eh?
This week, I'm on a mission to explore the local scene and see how Rutherglen has embraced the #tututuesday craze. It's amazing to see how people are really taking ownership of the challenge, making it their own.
First up, I hit the cobbled streets of the town center and was immediately struck by the vibrant display of pink and purple tutus outside a vintage clothing store. It was almost too cute to handle! The owner told me they had been absolutely swamped with requests for tutus all week, proving that Rutherglen has a real penchant for the theatrical!
Next, I popped into the local bakery, and oh boy, they had even got on board the Tutu Tuesday action. A little sprinkle of tutu-like swirls on a lemon meringue pie. Genius! The little girls who work there looked absolutely delightful in their little pink tulle tutus - I couldn't resist snapping a few pics.
Onwards to the Rutherglen library, where I was thrilled to see a book club meeting in full flow, with several ladies rocking classic white tulle tutus over their smart casual ensembles. They looked elegant and oh-so-chic! Speaking of modern styles, over at the local antique store, I was greeted by a fabulous young lady in a shimmery silver tulle tutu with a touch of fringe - so glam! This store really felt like it had caught the "boho ballerina" vibe of modern tutu fashion perfectly.
Later on, as I took a walk along the River Clyde, I encountered a bunch of school kids all dressed up in tutu skirts (they'd turned their regular uniform skirts into tutus, no doubt with a little help from their mums!) - so inventive!
The highlight of my #tututuesday came as I strolled through the market square - a group of senior ladies had gathered in their little knitted tutus! Their cheerful enthusiasm, coupled with their stunning hand-knitted creations, just stole the show. A few more chats about tutu styles followed - they even reminisced about tutus in classic ballets such as Swan Lake, Giselle, and Sleeping Beauty! The enthusiasm was contagious.
