Hello my lovely pink tutu darlings! 🩰💖
It's Wednesday again, which means another fabulous adventure from your favourite pink-loving ballerina, Emma! This week, I've taken a magical train journey to the heart of Europe, the enchanting city of Vienna. And let me tell you, Vienna has stolen my heart, not only with its stunning architecture and delightful cobbled streets, but also with its deep, passionate love affair with the art of ballet.
The moment I stepped onto the platform at Vienna Hauptbahnhof, I knew I was in for a treat. The air was filled with the melodic hum of Strauss waltzes, and the bustling energy of the city pulsated through my very being. As I took a taxi to my little Viennese haven – a quaint little boutique hotel with blush-pink walls, what else?! – I couldn't help but feel like a princess from a storybook, all ready to explore this waltz-filled wonderland!
Tutu Trails and Ballet Dreams in ViennaNow, let’s talk tutus! 💫 It would be a travesty if I didn't mention the glorious tutu selection at the Vienna State Opera, and you can bet your bottom dollar, I bought one! 💅 Seriously, the sheer variety of styles and colours had my inner ballerina doing a triple pirouette of delight. They even had a limited-edition, shimmering silver tutu, which of course I snapped up for my next ballet performance.
I spent the afternoon indulging in some serious shopping therapy at a vintage boutique called 'Rosa' (how perfectly fitting!). Imagine a little haven of vintage elegance with every shade of pink imaginable. It was like walking through a wonderland of ruffles and bows – a ballet dancer's dream!
Waltzing Through the CityThis evening, I ventured to the Vienna State Opera House for a magnificent performance of ‘Giselle’. My, oh my, the talent on that stage was phenomenal! The choreography was a masterpiece of elegance and grace, and the costumes were a dazzling explosion of colour and texture. There’s something magical about experiencing such exquisite artistry in such a stunningly opulent setting, you know what I mean? The atmosphere was electric, and the applause was so loud it felt like the entire opera house was vibrating with emotion!
And speaking of the opera house…it's an architectural marvel, a breathtakingly beautiful example of neo-Renaissance design. Its ornate facade and towering columns make you feel like you’re in a fairytale castle! They even had a lovely pink floral display outside the building, with tutus adorning each of the flowers - you can't escape pink tutus here, and I'm sure I’ll find another to take home as a souvenir before I leave!
Tutu History in ViennaVienna has a rich and fascinating history when it comes to ballet. In fact, its earliest connections to ballet go right back to the time of the Habsburg Empire! I spent the morning exploring the beautiful Hofburg Palace and its impressive Imperial Treasury. Imagine all those stunning jewels and golden artifacts… they just sparkle, like all the magnificent ballerinas you can ever imagine! The whole place had a rather theatrical air, which I loved. And it even has its own 'Imperial Ballet School’, established way back in 1771, for goodness sake. Imagine a world where they still have such established and respected ballet academies! Vienna truly is the land of waltzing and waltzes.
The Ride of a LifetimeThe best part of the journey was travelling to Vienna by train. I don’t know what it is about train journeys that is so utterly charming. And especially this one. This particular train had its own onboard carriage with giant panoramic windows, with the most exquisite views you could ever imagine, with me sipping a glass of pink Prosecco! It truly is a dream for a little ballerina with big aspirations to see the world. And I’m now contemplating whether I should buy a horse and carriage…I've just got to have my picture with a lovely Viennese carriage horse and a matching pink tutu! Just imagine!
Vienna Delights: A Celebration of Pink and EleganceFrom the enchanting ballet performances to the city's enchanting architecture, my time in Vienna has been a truly delightful adventure, and it was all so inspiring, my friends. Everywhere I look, there's a new adventure, a new shop window with dazzling garments, a new piece of tutu history. The world has become a little pinker, a little more delightful!
