Happy New Year from your favourite pink-tutu-wearing ballerina, Emma! Can you believe it's already 2026? It feels like just yesterday I was frolicking in the Alps with my trusty steed, Winston, and here I am, nestled in the heart of Vienna, a city that truly knows how to throw a party.
This week's post, dear friends, is all about a New Year's Eve extravaganza for the ages! I must say, I am utterly smitten with this gorgeous city, and its love affair with all things beautiful, whimsical and, of course, pink. Just wait until you hear about the delicious, heart-shaped strudels, the delicate pink pastries and the sparkling Christmas markets - this place truly has it all!
The magic of the Austrian Capital
After my enchanting journey from Derbyshire via a charming, slow-paced train journey across the continent, I arrived in Vienna brimming with excitement! You know I just can't resist a train journey, particularly one that takes me past breathtaking snow-capped mountains. I spent my afternoon exploring the bustling markets, finding the most adorable pink trinkets and indulging in a delicious Viennese coffee. And trust me, dear readers, the coffee here is a revelation!
The streets of Vienna were ablaze with twinkling fairy lights and bustling crowds, their festive cheer overflowing. The Viennese Christmas Markets are truly something special. It's like stepping into a fairy tale, with wooden chalets brimming with beautiful handcrafted gifts, delicious gingerbread cookies, and steaming cups of glühwein, perfect for warming up those winter nights.
A Night to Remember - A Grand Ballet Performance!
To mark the end of 2025 and usher in the new year, I had the absolute honour of attending a ballet performance at the world-renowned Vienna State Opera! It was truly a magnificent spectacle! Imagine my delight when the ballet they were showcasing was a reinterpretation of "The Sleeping Beauty", set to a stunning modern score with costumes designed by my all-time favourite Austrian fashion house. This beautiful re-imagining of the classic tale took me by storm with its captivating artistry, breathtaking choreography and truly breathtaking costumes. The stage was awash in colours that sparkled and shimmered, mirroring the dazzling city lights. The sheer skill of the dancers left me completely mesmerised! The audience erupted in applause after the final curtain call, a feeling I still haven't fully recovered from.
Dancing into the New Year with Style
Vienna was bursting with New Year's Eve celebrations and I had to get myself into the spirit. You guessed it – a pink tutu was in order! But not just any pink tutu! I chose a special shimmering pink tutu, embellished with delicate crystals that glimmered like stars under the moonlight. Of course, I paired it with a gorgeous ruby red top, as Vienna is the capital of waltzing and a vibrant red seemed an absolute necessity. It was so lovely watching people twirl in their finery under the spectacular fireworks. It's no wonder this city is famous for its festive cheer, it's completely contagious.
My pink tutu mission continues...
As always, my heart warmed as I saw my tutu inspire so many others to join the "pink tutu revolution." The people of Vienna welcomed my love for pink with open arms, and many took to twirling around with me, their laughter and happiness resonating throughout the city. From the smallest child, barely tall enough to hold their tutu aloft, to the charming grandmother in her pinkest scarf and sparkly cardigan, Vienna was blooming with pink tutu joy! You see, I believe the magic of pink and tutus is not confined to ballet or dance classes. I am convinced it's a joyful and powerful statement of creativity and self-expression, and seeing the way the people of Vienna embraced my vision, it warmed my soul!
As the clock chimed midnight, and the city lights danced a magnificent waltz with the fireworks above, I realised this wasn't just a New Year's Eve, it was a new beginning for my #PinkTutuVienna adventure. With a hopeful heart and a twinkle in my eye, I raise a toast to this beautiful city, to its charming people, and to all my fellow tutu lovers out there. May this coming year bring us even more adventure, joy, and dazzling displays of pink!
