Pink Tutu Vienna: A Waltz Through Time & Tulle - Post 1623

Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another dose of Pink Tutu Vienna! I'm writing this from my chic little hotel room overlooking the glorious Danube. The sun is shining, birds are singing, and… well, my pink tutu is giving the entire street a serious dose of sunshine! I love Vienna. It's simply overflowing with romance, beauty and… tutus! (Did you know the Vienna Opera Ballet have their own beautiful tutus for Swan Lake?)

This week, we're whisking ourselves away to the wonderful world of history and tutus. As you know, I adore ballet, and my journey of discovery often leads me to learn all about its glorious history, right down to the very first tutus ever worn. In fact, I’m already working on a post detailing my findings! Just think, you could be wearing a tutu just like the ballerinas in the 19th Century, with layers and layers of glorious tulle! It's simply heavenly!

Vienna is like a fairytale, overflowing with majestic palaces, charming cafes, and of course, grand opera houses. Each building seems to tell its own story, and I simply adore wandering through the cobbled streets and admiring their beautiful facades, my pink tutu dancing like a little whirl of magic with every step I take. Just last week, I happened upon a delightful vintage shop tucked away on a quiet side street. Can you guess what they had, my loves? You got it: the most incredible collection of old tutus, some even dating back to the early 20th century. It was like a step back in time, and the tulle was just so lovely! I almost couldn’t bring myself to leave without adding a few beautiful vintage numbers to my collection! (But you know what? There's always tomorrow. Who knows what fashion treasures await in the depths of Vienna!)

Speaking of treasures, let's talk Vienna's beautiful ballet scene. I managed to squeeze in a glorious performance at the Vienna State Opera last night. Oh, my darlings, it was simply breathtaking! The dancers moved like butterflies, each gesture an elegant and flowing poem of movement. My eyes danced with delight throughout the entire show. I simply had to add this particular performance to my memory, a dazzling ballet of dreams.

Speaking of dreams, let’s take a break and head to a quintessential Viennese cafe. It's all about the pastries, and of course, a lovely hot cuppa. This cafe, tucked away on a small, quiet street, feels as if it belongs in a storybook. The aroma of warm pastries, fresh coffee, and delicate cakes wafts in the air, beckoning us in for a delicious moment of tranquility. It feels like I’m on set for one of those magical movies with the cobblestone streets, an adorable little café, and me, a bright pink spot amidst all that Viennese loveliness.

Vienna’s beautiful scenery makes travelling by train a pure joy. There's just something about the romantic swaying motion of the train as it glides through the Austrian countryside, and then those incredible panoramic views. The journey is practically part of the adventure. This week I even went one step further and hired a horse drawn carriage. I simply couldn't resist! There’s just something magical about a horse drawn carriage - it truly felt like I’d stepped into a film, or perhaps even a waltz with history itself.

After spending the morning wandering through Vienna’s enchanting parks and admiring the beautiful gardens, I stumbled across an open air ballet class. Oh my, the energy was absolutely fantastic! It truly inspired me. Even if it wasn’t a tutu dance class, seeing people enjoy their passion made my day!

Did you know, dear readers, that ballet began right here in the heart of Vienna in the 15th century? From its humble beginnings as a court dance to the magnificent ballets that now captivate audiences all over the world, Vienna’s connection to the beautiful art form is truly a rich history.

Speaking of art and fashion, I had to get my hands on some local crafts, which are truly remarkable and add a touch of Viennese beauty to any outfit! From exquisite jewellery and hand-painted porcelain, to delicate scarves and hand-stitched embroidery - there’s simply something for everyone. My shopping adventures are almost over for today. My favourite pink tutu needs to rest so I can show it off at an incredible Vienna fashion show tomorrow evening. I have a beautiful vintage tulle gown I plan to pair it with!

This post is getting rather long, but I want to give you a final thought to take away from this little snippet of Vienna life: If life gives you a chance to dance, then wear a tutu! Or at least wear a little bit of pink to spread a little joy and happiness in your day!

Until next Wednesday!

Lots of love,

Emma x
