Pink Tutu Travels: Post #1409: Drag Queen Time Travel in 2037!

Oh, my darling dears! Emma here, your ever-so-fashionable, time-travelling ballerina drag queen, reporting from...well, actually, you wouldn't believe me if I told you. It's a top secret location, let's just say, a place where the glamour never sleeps! 💅💋

Now, I know what you're thinking: "Emma, it's 2037! Isn't time travel a little passé these days?" Well, darling, you're absolutely right! Time travel is SO mainstream these days! Everyone's doing it! I even bumped into Kylie Jenner in the 1920s at a speakeasy. She was rocking a flapper dress, let me tell you!

But anyway, enough about me! I'm here to tell you about the fabulously fascinating world of drag in... wait for it... 2037!

The Global Drag Scene in 2037

The year 2037: a dazzling explosion of drag talent, fashion, and activism across the globe. It's a time when the drag queen is celebrated not only for her performance art, but for her fierce voice on issues of social justice and inclusivity. And let me tell you, honey, it's a real head-turner!

Firstly, drag has truly become international. The scene is no longer just limited to New York and London. From Tokyo to Rio to Cape Town, there's a vibrant drag community exploding with talent and creativity. You'll find incredible drag queens performing in everything from drag brunches to avant-garde performance art installations!

One thing I have noticed in 2037 is that drag fashion has taken on a new life of its own. You're not only seeing extravagant, high-fashion looks, but there's also a real focus on sustainable fashion and reusing and upcycling vintage pieces. I mean, what's a fabulous drag queen without a bit of sustainability?

But What's In Store For Tonight?

Now, you might be wondering what kind of fantastic shows I'm planning on seeing tonight in 2037! Well, darling, tonight is huge! There are some major performances happening:

  • The Grand Prix of Drag: This isn't your average drag competition, dear! This is a global event featuring some of the top drag queens from across the world, battling it out for the coveted title of "World Drag Champion"! They'll be performing on an elaborate stage featuring holograms and drones, and you'd be lucky to snag a ticket to this highly sought-after show.

  • The Queen of All Queens: This annual drag competition is actually on Netflix these days. Talk about being mainstream! They've had a bunch of queens on there: Sasha Belle, Violet Chachki, even that amazing Bollywood queen from Mumbai, Risha Risa! It's not just about who has the most glamorous outfit, it's about having charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent. I heard one judge said to one contestant, “Darling, that was so talented, it made my tea spill!” And yes, this competition really does involve tea. But they only serve it in fancy porcelain teacups! Fancy, huh?

  • "Drag Through the Ages" - A Museum Exhibition: You haven't truly experienced drag history until you've seen it on display! This interactive exhibition features incredible costumes from drag's earliest pioneers, like Divine and RuPaul, as well as up-and-coming modern icons! The fashion is a dream! Think full-length pink feathers, shimmering crystals and dramatic headdresses. I may have cried a bit when I saw the display of one queen's sequined tutu and vintage feather boas. I can tell that in 2037, these pieces will be valuable, precious little pieces of history.

The Importance of Being Pink

But my dearest readers, the one thing I noticed more than anything is this: drag in 2037 is all about positivity!

Queens in 2037 are using their voices to advocate for social change. They are advocating for equality, understanding and kindness, whether that's protesting climate change, supporting LGBT+ rights, or fighting for the rights of refugees and immigrants. Drag has never been more political, and more impactful!

Oh, and of course, no journey through time is complete without my favourite pink tutu! You see, darlings, I have a mission: to encourage everyone, everywhere, to embrace the power of pink tutus!

You've got to agree that there's something about a pink tutu, it makes every drag performance, whether on the street, the stage, or a museum floor, completely, absolutely fantastic. I truly believe that if the whole world was wearing a pink tutu, well, there wouldn't be a single fight. Can you imagine it? No one would have a bad time with a fluffy pink tutu on their body, just happiness!

I've even heard rumours that one of the queens on this year's "Queen of All Queens" is actually designing pink tutus, a full range, from mini tutus to full-length versions! Isn't that just delightful? I can’t wait to snag myself a pair. Maybe even a few!

That's all for this month, darling. Join me next time on my Pink Tutu Time Travels. Who knows where we’ll end up? And always remember, even if you don’t like pink, remember - wear the tutu of your dreams, with joy and kindness. Remember, dear, darling readers, we’re all fabulous, in our own unique ways!

Catch ya later!

Emma xx
