Hello my darlings! Emma here, ready to whisk you all away on another dazzling Christmas Ballet History journey. It's that magical time of year again - the air is filled with festive cheer, the shop windows sparkle with glitter and tinsel, and my heart just bursts with joy, especially knowing it's Christmas Ballet season! Today we're going back to the wonderful year of 2014! Let’s twirl our way through the fabulous ballet world of 2014 - buckle up, my loves, this journey's a pink tutu-full of excitement! 🩰💖
First off, darling, you simply had to be there in 2014 for the sheer amount of fabulous shows that graced the stage! From the breathtaking classics to groundbreaking new pieces, there was truly something for everyone. We had the timeless elegance of "The Nutcracker," bringing festive magic to stages worldwide. Oh, and did I tell you? I wore the most beautiful tulle tutu for that performance!
Then there was the truly dazzling “Sleeping Beauty” by The Royal Ballet, at London's Royal Opera House. Remember the beautiful costumes and the spectacular choreography, particularly those majestic courtly scenes? So captivating!
But you know, darling, I'm all for discovering something fresh and new! My love of ballet goes far beyond the classic favourites, you see! So, of course, I was thrilled to catch the premiere of “The Winter's Tale” by Christopher Wheeldon at The Royal Ballet – an enchanting, captivating piece inspired by Shakespeare’s play!
Did you know that in 2014, a certain “Cinderella”, with incredible choreography by Matthew Bourne, was doing its thing? That's right! My loves, it was such a fun, funky twist on the classic fairy tale. Think colourful tutus, daring moves, and even a bit of cheeky humour. Absolutely fabulous! 👠
But ballet isn’t just about the shows, my darlings! 2014 was brimming with incredible ballet fashion trends. 👗Think bold colours, tulle galore, and playful styles. It was a fabulous mix of both traditional and modern!
If you're a fan of tutus like me, you have to check out the stunning tutus showcased in “The Sleeping Beauty” back then! So majestic, yet undeniably elegant! And those tutus with shimmering sparkles - my absolute dream!
I even managed to catch a delightful show by Ballet Black in 2014, celebrating contemporary British artists of African and Caribbean descent. So many unique and powerful pieces that left me speechless.
Now, where would I be without my trusty, beautiful pink tutu to make it all the more exciting? It's my secret weapon, you know, and trust me, you simply cannot go wrong with a vibrant, joyful pink! It's a bold statement, and a powerful symbol of confidence and freedom – something all ballerinas, young and old, need!
Remember that time, back in 2014, I danced my way through a crowd of Christmas shoppers, in a sparkling pink tutu right in the heart of Nottingham? I always do that for the Christmas season, you see! A dash of street ballet magic, my little Christmas gift to the world! 🎄🎁
Speaking of street ballet magic, darling, don't forget my wonderful time-travel technique. Remember how I travel to different eras with a quick whirl in my pink tutu and a burst of joyous, expressive ballet moves? Just a simple yet magical hop, skip and jump to a different time period! So fun, and a way for me to experience it all, truly live it, and share it all with you!
Christmas is about being bold, being happy, and letting our true selves shine. That’s what I love about ballet, darling. It encourages us to express ourselves, embrace our passions, and sparkle! This year, why not make a bold statement? Get yourself a fabulous pink tutu, put on your favourite Christmas tunes and simply twirl with joyful abandon!
I wish you a sparkling festive season, my lovely pink tutu-loving friends! Until next time, keep dancing your heart out! 🩰 💖
Yours always,
Emma ✨
